Not sure if the question was ever asked or it was ever mentioned..

What if Clemson never would have brought up or mentioned anything about safety A.J. Haulcy's suspension prior to the game and A.J. actually started and played the first half. What ruling would come about, if Clemson, sports media, or anyone for that matter, broadcast on all media outlets that LSU just won a game with an ineligible or illegal player. Does the NCAA penalize LSU with a loss or a forfeit? LSU just recently had to vacate 37 wins from 2012-2015 because of an ineligible player. (LSU should fight to get those wins back, just for the same reasons Michigan recently was allowed to keep their wins and just pay a fine instead.)

USC played a guy who was supposed to be suspended for targeting in the first half of their opener a few years ago and I don't believe there were any consequences.

Thanks....So it has happened before....Im just wondering if Clemson knew of the AJ situation way before hand and purposely reported it at the time they did to gain an advantage to cause LSU to change their defensive personnel on short notice leading up to gametime.

Completely different scenario though. Vadal Alexander was ruled ineligible due to impermissible benefits while Haulcy was simply serving a suspension due to an in-game penalty. Additionally, the impermissible benefits* occurred while Vadal Alexander was at LSU (meaning LSU was punished as well) while Haulcy’s suspension occurred at a different school.
*Ignoring the argument of whether it actually constituted impermissible benefits; I’m just talking about the NCAA’s actual ruling rather than its merits.
To expand on my second point, I’m not sure what happens if a player who transfers is found to have received impermissible at his previous school. For some reason I think I recall a scenario where this happened and the new school was not punished because they had no control over the impermissible benefits.. but I may be imagining things.
Unless the NCAA were able to show that either Haulcy or LSU were informed of the suspension, I don’t think they’d really be able to force disciplinary action against LSU. More likely they’d just make him serve the suspension during the next game.
And even if the NCAA did take the extremely drastic measure of forcing LSU to vacate the win, I’m not sure it would matter that much. Vacated wins don’t count as losses, it’s not a conference game (so no impact to SEC standings), and the CFP committee isn’t part of the NCAA anyway. It wouldn’t help Clemson either, for the same reasons.

Should end with the season, unless you stab a guy. That'd be for life.

I have always had a lot of respect for Dabo, but I think ratting on an opponent was chicken shite. That being said, somebody was not doing their job for that to slip by.
I'd like to think my school wouldn't rat, but I'm likely wrong.

I remember that old tv show episode of "Coach" starring Craig T. Nelson as the HC where he purposely sat out his potential Heisman winning player disguised as an injury that left him in a wheelchair for the remainder of the season or his career. It was a vicious lie in order to get the opponent to feel sorrow for their situation. At the right time in the game, they substituted for star player who was dressed to play. The QB led the Minnesota fighting....Eagles? to victory in the end.

He wasn't ineligible until Clemson brought it up for review and they suspended him. If Clemson hadn't brought it up, he would have been eligible.

Taking away wins from a team of 105 + players and coaches alike for something like that is asinine.
