Often, from different sides of Africa.

"African Americans" are western Africa.

Kenyans etc are from East.
My Kenyan Baws did not like "African Americans" at all.

Africans that immigrate from Africa to America usually work much harder and don't have inferiority complexes.

I don't hate African immigrants. They definitely have their stuff together more than us slave bloods.

The thing is, we're just very different. Black Americans haven't been "African" in centuries, so there's lots of divergence between the groups.

African immigrant’s ancestors were busy catching and selling the African American’s ancestors. I imagine there’s a little bit of disdain for the latter that goes back generations

African Americans don't get along with African immigrants because of cultural differences and the belief that Africans "act white".

AAs don't get along with Latinos either, they feel that they "act white" as well.

Kenyans may very well be OK in general, but Somalians, Ethiopians, and Eritreans are a shitshow and are from the east.

I've dealt with African immigrants that were good people. I never asked where they were from, but they definitely weren't from one of those aforementioned countries (Somalis in particular have a distinctive look). It does seem that almost all 1st gen African immigrants have no love for African Americans, though.

It’s definitely always been a thing and certainly not limited to Kenyans. Africans don’t typically like American blacks, and I think it became even more pronounced after Saint George’s sobriety date.

I don’t think it’s limited to Africans either. Seems like most foreign blacks have at least some issue with black Americans, and the black Americans seem too stupid to know why — they’re so ingrained in groupthink that they can’t understand that not everyone with their skin color wants to constantly recreate the 1960s and whine about everything.

The new soon to be Bishop of the Diocese of Houma Thibodaux is from Uganda.

He was ordained a priest in 2013 and 12 years later will be a bishop. He is definitely moving up.

That's not it at all. In Houston, if you're from Africa, you beat your kids when they don't do their homework. If you're just black, you don't even know they had homework. In the same school(Alief is the easiest, since it's pretty poor, but wildly different expectations between parents). Africans (mostly Nigerians tbh) want their kids to be accountants and go to A&M, and the non African blacks ... uh, don't.

Chicken will shut down this thread in 3...2.... (I'm half African Chicken, give me a break for being honest)

The same problem exists between black Caribbean immigrants and black Americans. People assume because their skin color is the same they should get along. That ain’t how it works.

Completely true. Mexicans would tell my ex wife (Honduran) that they should get brown people respek for overpricing a job or underperforming, without quite realizing that the money they were asking for was also hers, and it was "her" house, as I was a gringo. It didn't go over well.

Its mind-boggling to me how we still try to compare the two groups.
I'm guilty of it as well, but then I step back and look at comparing new immigrants from 30+ countries who were typically upper colonial workers/beneficiaries, to a people who are 40% European and have 300 year culture in America.

If you ignore that one thing, it would be hard to find two groups less comparable. Much less comparing a South African to an Ethiopian to a Kenyan to a Nigerian.
It would be like comparing Mexican Americans to people in Spain...
