This is a really good show. It's a wild concept but something way down the road I could see happen. Anyone watched this one?
It has another season coming out.

I enjoyed it. Thought they did a good job visually representing some wipd concepts.
There is a Chinese (I think?) series on the same material that is much longer, but subbed in English if you are interested in checking it out.

I really liked it. It was very well done. I thought it went off the rails a little after the reveal.
Spoiler
How did they seriously talk to a human for 30ish years and never get around to the concept of dishonesty?

Can we post book spoilers? In any case I have zero faith in D&D to make this story as compelling or thought provoking as the novels even though this series is complete unlike GOT

Yeah there are some issues that I don't really understand with it. Could just be an issue trying to fit the whole story into a series. From what I understand they are mammoth undertakings to read.

If you enjoy this show then i consider Devs on Hulu a must watch. 8 part mini series and the whole story is complete in 1 season.

Anyone see the Chinese version of this show? Is on Amazon. Subtitled.
Why the DV?
Is that a no?

I want to watch this series but will wait until I finish the books. Currently toward the final 3rd of the 2nd book, so I have a ways to go.

Saw the show, like it, read the book series, Loved the books, can no longer watch the show. They altered the characters too much from the books

i think they did a decent job of adapting it. it was never going to be an easy or perfect adaptation. the choices they made make sense to me to the point that i'm not going to quit watching the series. in fact after a recent rewatch, i enjoyed it a bit more than first viewing.
it is possible to appreciate both, imo
---
shameless, nerdy book plug: to anyone considering it, they are very worth the read if you like sci-fi

Eiza Gonzalez may be the hottest chick I’ve ever seen.

I just finished the book......holy shite man.

I enjoyed it it’s a “high concept” show that worked. It had some great cinematography. The ending was pretty open, imo. I’m glad there’s another season.

Agreed, that was odd.

I'm about to order. I see a set of 3 but also a set of 4 (says international version)
Do you have 3 or 4 books?

Do yourself a favor and read the book series. At risk of sounding pretentious, I will say it’s one of those book series that will literally change the way you think about the world around you.
On the topic of the show, I thought the visual effects were great and did the series justice with explaining some high concepts (however the “high concepts“ dramatically increase in scale and complexity in the next two books – so they really have their work cut out for them).
Some of the character choices were questionable, though in my opinion, and honestly, I think the writing, especially the first few episodes, was pretty damn bad. There were so many plot holes or unexplained connections in the story that it almost turned me off senseI’m such a big fan of the book series itself.
In the end, I did complete it. It was happy I did. I am really hoping they acknowledge the show success by really nailing down some good writing and character development.
Again, they have their work cut out for him with the next two books. Aside from the visual effects, which will have to be perfectly done or else I would simply not accept it( those who know which part I’m talking about will agree.) - there’s one character that I believe is already established in the first season, but will take a large role in the next two books as the story progresses. Let’s just say that the quality of the writing for this character going forward could either make the show successful in addition to the visual effects or could be written as the most insufferable, woke, character in streaming history and made me not want to finish.
