Outside of QB, if your team can’t survive a few quarters without a player then

Then you aren’t that good.

This defense has been built up everywhere it needed to be built up.

We’ve gone and gotten a ton of speedy deep threats….

We will be fine for 2 quarters.

Let’s go smash these smug pricks and start rolling.

Agreed. It's petty gamesmanship. But I think it's going to backfire.

Agree - we have to roll through and adapt to injuries and all kinds of stuff each week.

Every team has to be prepared to handle adversity.

We already had 2 running backs lost due to legal entanglements. For years we've had off season issues like bar fights, drug suspensions, grades and injuries knocking out players. One year we had a head coach killed in the off season.

A 2 quarter suspension is very mild on the adversity chart.

Losing their free safety for the first two quarters in the first round of the 2011 Louisiana State 5A football playoffs cost Saint Paul’s the game.

Are you talking about Haulcy? Because he's very much been talked about before yesterday. I think most would agree the single worst position group over the last 2 years has been safety. Haulcy was the highest regarded transfer at the position LSU was the most in need of improving. When you look at the safety group as a whole, though not at LSU, Haulcy was FAR and AWAY the most proven. Gilbert struggled last season. They tried Spears and quickly abandoned that in favor of Burns and Ryan. That in and of itself doesn't inspire much confidence.

Can LSU mitigate the loss for 2 quarters? I think so. But if you said today who are the top 5 players LSU can't afford to lose Haulcy would be in that group. Not because he's necessarily a surefire All American. It's because there's not a lot reliable depth behind him.

It could possibly hurt us, it could not. Probably lybreally no way to know unless whoever replaces him gets burnt but then who to say he wouldnt have. They have some good recs im sure it will be a loss not having him those 2 quarters. Biggest issue i have is the principle of how it played out.

Watch, Toviano or Spears is going to make a big impacting play in the first half of the game. They were going to play in the game anyway now they get more playing time for a half. I also think AJ is going to come out with his hair on fire in the second half and is going to lay the friggin wood in the second half. A receiver on a pass over the middle might be KO'd.

You’re correct. The frustration and anxiety, though, because this happened at our most important position to address this offseason. Bad safety play killed us last year, so now it’s super important for Gilbert, Spears and Toviano to show some growth for these first 2 quarters.

Do you not realize how bad we were at safety.

Compared to losses like Trey Holly, JT Lindsey, Mason Smith, or the Honey Badger in 2012, the odds are that it will be milder.

I am just presenting the best comparables at my disposal. 100% in agreement that this should have no impact on this LSU team.

My thoughts exactly. If not having a transfer safety for the first half is that big of a deal, then the defense still has big issues.
