I get it. This sucks for us. But more than anything, this exposes how our program’s apparent lack of process with the transfer portal and NIL got us here. It’s like running a background check - if no one within our program understood this was a possibility and highly probable to happen - that’s just dumb.

Seems like we’d do some homework and know the consequences of bringing him on to the team and paying him high $.

Hopefully this is just a wake-up call for our staff and gets AJ fired up to come out in the 3rd quarter with his head on fire and ready to close the game out!!!

Do you think having him out for one half would have caused us to not offer him?? You’re nuts

I’m not saying that at all. I’m saying LSU should have known this issue existed and it seems either we knew and played dumb. Or didn’t do our hw.

People can complain and look for any excuse why LSU could lose this game.

There is still no excuse.

A great Championship caliber team uses this as motivation to pickup their game.

I can see how an idiot might think that.

This does make me confused how literally no one on staff knew this was a possibility. Doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to figure out this could have happened.

Clearly some folks here don’t understand my point. It’s not like the Houston game wasn’t televised and rules infraction data isn’t available. Do your homework. Simple as that. Gotta be more disciplined. I nearly hired someone not long ago - did deeper dive. Freaking reference call exposed some legal / criminal issues that we hadn’t discovered yet. Immediately pulled the candidate out of the process.

I’m not saying that’s what we needed to do for AJ. Clearly he’s a talented player. But lsu should have known about this and planned for it. Not either try to hide it away and hope it wasn’t exposed. Or simply not know.

It exposes that Brian Kelly is an imbecile and had no clue this was a possibility until 3 days before the season.

Discipline has always been a concern of mine with Kelly. Hopefully this isn’t just another sign of that within his culture. Gotta go slow to go fast.

Because he will miss the first half of one game?

There is a ton of overlap on posters who complained about Jay Johnson and who are blaming Kelly for this

Funny, that

Our program flat out saying we didn’t know about this until this week is just telling everyone we don’t have our crap together.

He was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, which does not carry over to the next game. The Big 12 changed the ruling and notified Houston in December. Houston did not notify LSU. This has been mentioned in most of the 50 other threads.

Follow your own advice and pay attention.

LSU (BK) has the number 1 portal class from last year. Many of these are top notch players. Thompson at RG was considered the 2nd best O lineman in the Big 10. Check your facts before criticizing the program.

Dude. Haulcy committed to us in May 2025……..the last time I checked, that’s after December. Like by 5-6 months. It’s called lsu program - do your due diligence.
