Is our compliance department inept or are we the NCAA doormat. I got to tell you it feels like the decision is already made and he will be suspended for the first half. This feels like Smith all over again. I think the NCAA is grabbing on to whatever little power they have left. I believe they were told of the decision on Wednesday and LSU and SEC are appealing it. Makes no sense for them not have a decision yet on a player playing in a game in 2 days.

They way I understand it, is since the staff didn't know about it until Wed. then the NCAA wasn't going to do anything or wasn't aware either until Clemson said something. If that's the case, then whatever ruling they decide is meaningless. Play him. If they say he has to sit out the first half : frick 'em. Play that kid. The NCAA looks bad if they are just doing whatever Clemson wants when it was their frick up by forgetting or simply not telling LSU in a timely manner.

I don’t remember Mason Smith problems? This Haulcy thing is a non issue. Stop melting.

There is no next game suspension for getting ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. There is a reason why LSU didn’t know about it.

Agree with that. He plays in this game and sits the half of the next game. NCAA should have some reasonable process and timing for issuing suspensions. Still pretty chickenshit by Clemson. I guess they aren’t believing all the hype they’re getting.

Standout defensive tackle Maason Smith will not play in No. 5 LSU's season opener Sept. 3 against No. 8 Florida State, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Wednesday. Smith's absence is due to a one-game suspension by the NCAA over an improper benefit, according to The (Baton Rouge) Advocate, which first reported the discipline. Although Smith cooperated with the investigation, the NCAA ruled him ineligible for the first game, the newspaper reported. Smith will be able to return in Week 2 for LSU's home opener against Grambling.

I agree with all of this. Im just thinking of it logically. If they were made aware on Wednesday I can't see the NCAA being like ok give us 2 days to think about it. I think a decision was made that day. If it were no suspension or suspension on a later date LSU states it and we move on. For LSU to say we were made aware on Wednesday and don't know yet to me translates as we were told he was suspended and are in process of appealing. I mean the team travels tomorrow and a decision isn't made yet....seems unlikely.

Michigan illegally spied their way to a national title and the NCAA did nothing. Play him if you want to. The game will be won or lost on the field regardless amd that's what the playoff committee will look at. If LSU goes into the playoff and wins the national title, the NCAA can't do shite except for vacate the first game of the season anyway, and that's if LSU wins the game anyway. He's not ineligible for the season.

And LSU sues the NCAA and wins.

When the NCAA goes to court, they lose.

Play him. They will let us do it.

This could be what brings down the NCAA... show everyone else they have no control or the power to do anything about it. NCAA is a joke.

They won't. They will stop the game. Even if we win a lawsuit, when will it get settled? Even if it is settled this season in our favor, the game gets cancelled. How does that affect the CFP? Do they penalize LSU in the ranking for doing that? Why risk that for a player to play the first half of football? Spears will be fine in that position. If Haulcy is that critical that he can't miss half a game, LSU is on thin ice.
