I agree with the trying too hard comment. If Ethan Hawke were a down on his luck private eye instead of a writer, it would be a fairly clichéd premise like Inherent Vice, The Nice Guys, China Town, The Long Goodbye, etc. Nothing wrong with the genre, this one just seems like a bit much but will probably check it out. Love Keith David, Tim Blake Nelson, and Kyle MacLauchlin. I could do without Dinklage after he ruined Snow White.

I watched the pilot last night, and I thought it was pretty good. Love the vibes of shitty Tulsa. Some good comedic relief characters.
