Is Stanford's QB Gulbranson some sort of Legacy or has a very wealthy Father?

I am trying to understand what the benefit is for Andrew Luck/Frank Reich to keep running the same QB out there. He's horrible.

Their bad qb from last year transferred to auburn to be the back up to Jackson Arnold who sucks. I don’t know what you want them to do

Man has Stanford fallen hard from their Harbaugh era peak.

This is not a good Hawaii team.

It’s kind of sad to see, but I doubt the Stanford admin cares. Academics keeps their pockets going.

None of the California teams care anymore outside of a couple big money boosters at USC.

CFB is dead out there and only propped up on the west coast by Phil Knight at Oregon and residual momentum from the elite run at UW under DeBoer.

Institutional support is pretty bad. David Shaw was a good coach and it just fell apart the last few years.

Washington St and Oregon St seem to care despite being left behind. They both continue to do a good job of hiring up and coming coaches. They fact that they’ve both fielded a competitive team that is in the hunt for a bowl every year is kind of amazing

They care at a G5 level and are generally very efficient as far as allocating the resources at their discretion. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

But those aren’t schools who have the size or resources to compete in a modern NIL era CFP landscape.

This is Hawaii team that went 3-4 in the Mountain West last year.

We’re not talking about a Top 25 opponent.

Which is crazy because Stanford could become a football powerhouse if they invested in it. For the elite academic schools it's almost like they would prefer to suck at football

Yes they did. They’re very good at making hires relative to their resources.

Want to bet how that plays out over a longer period of time? They just can’t hold onto coaches or players which is why Mateer is playing in Norman next year.

My understanding is there some definite "Anti-Jock" sentiment.

The only schools who aren’t capable of competing at a national level in the SEC are Vandy and Mississippi State.

Ole Miss: one game out of CFP
SC: barely missed playoffs
Missouri: could compete this year
Kentucky: could if they pushed NIL to football
Arkansas: if their big money people (Tyson, Walmart, etc) ever lock in they could dominate
