Damn, they made the season 2 announcement but now it's done.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is not returning for Season 2 after all.
Variety has learned from sources that Paramount has opted not to move forward with another season of the prequel series. A Season 2 renewal announcement went out in April, but sources say the series has in fact been on hiatus and no plans to shoot a second season had moved forward and no production dates were scheduled.

News of “Original Sin’s” untimely demise comes as Showtime’s gradual decline has continued unabated for years. Once a bastion of premium scripted content on par with HBO, the network’s current slate has been winnowed down to just a handful of scripted originals and a rebrand as Paramount+ with Showtime.

That sucks. Went in expecting to hate it but felt like it started to hit its stride and was pretty good.

Watched it recently and was looking forward to season two

No it didn't. Outside of the young Deb, the show sucked
Resurrection is great though

Nah, it was a good show. It had some huge shoes to fill, and was not close to OG Dexter like Resurrection is, but it had a lot of potential. I'm bummed that it's done.

probably the start of severe Paramount layoffs

Gotta trim some fat to make room for the UFC deal I reckon. With Dexter Resurrection being fresh and new I guess they thought carving bits of that franchise out was a good place to start to avoid saturation- even if it is only 1 season old.

Dumb decision. The first season was good and it has a built in fan base. Hopefully this gets reversed. If they can manage to keep the budget down they can print money.

That’s a shame. I liked it and thought the casting was great

That blows. I liked it and thought they nailed a few characters, especially Dexter. A 2nd season should happen so they know if it has a good following. Maybe someone else can pick it up.

100%. I ended up enjoying the original sin actors more than the OG Dexter actors by and large.

Yea, I started this expecting to hate it, but ended up really liking it. I didn't know there was a second season planned because where they left it could pretty much roll right into the original Dexter.
