I mean I give him credit for having a better PR than a lot of the uh other athletes
but the man's a fraud
My guess is they go in and only teach the kids to read the first 3 pages

Maybe he thought by just carrying a book with you and wearing glasses, like he does, you could look smart while in reality not being able to find Ohio on a map.

It's easy to shite on someone that's trying to help people
I'm watching the video and they're saying it selected from the bottom 25% in the area. Which isn't known for success. There is a reason why Burrow mentioned the area in his Heisman speech and why people donated a lot of money to the food banks in the area.

Im not going to shite on him, but this sounds like a money launder scheme or a hey you need a huge tax write off?
If either is proven he's a bigger piece of shite than I thought and needs to be shite on.

I don't think he is hurting for money or is even thinking with that calculus
He tried to open up a school to cater to the most vulnerable people in the community where he is from. And not surprisingly, that's not an easy task. I think his heart was in the right place here and it's still possible that this has produced a net positive. It's part of the local public school system and it just received additional funding from him. It's not like he is running the day to day operations. If you watch the video it's likely that there are some lessons to be learned from this going forward.

LeBron James is a dumbass. Period, end of story. LeBron James, nor your beloved politician and your federal government, can replace parenting, the nuclear family, and dads. Take it up with God if you don't like it.

You can't deny that lebron is more obsessed with PR/image than results at this point
even the miami move while it led at a championship it was not 3 or 4 or ....
and Cleveland's win Kyrie was the difference maker
then la..
lebron based upon his talent, has underachieved in rings
Posted on 8/22/25 at 11:47 pm to OWLFAN86
And to kind of drive home the point I was trying to make, but it wasn't obvious for a man that plays sports, which is a result-oriented business
win or lose
He has very few results, considering as much as he pretends to do

LeBron is so gay.
All he had to do was go in and dominate basketball. No excuses, just be a badass and do your thing.
He failed.

A little off topic but I often see posted on here "tax write off" with the impression you are just giving away money you would have to pay in taxes anyway. Thats not how it works.
If you make a million dollars and have a tax burden of 25% you pay 250,000 in taxes. If you give 100,000 to a legit charity and can be "written off", it reduces your taxable income to 900,000 at 25% and you pay 225,000.
The other 75K was your money, you didnt get to "write off" the entire 100K.
Sorry, back to the thread.

And that's pretty much the gist of the hatred here

Im reminded of a story twenty some odd years ago in NO. I forget the ages but the two boys were very young. A nine year old had a gun passed to him through the fence (to avoid the metal detector) and went in the school and shot the 11 year old, who wrestled the gun from him and went chasing the kid shooting at him.
All the parents showed up at the school screaming about their babies. Then the school supervisor showed up........
We had to close a school and combine the two together, kids from rivaling projects and posted notes throughout both warning parents to watch their kids for signs of trouble. Then the fights broke out and we posted notes for a parents conference and less than a dozen showed up.
Now you show up here bitching. Our job is not to raise your children THAT IS YOUR JOB, we are not their mommas and daddies.

I'm not bitching
I'm pointing out that it's incredibly difficult to overcome the negative cultural hurdles and educate these kids which were from the bottom quartile of an abysmal area.
I don't know if it could really even be considered a failure at this point. It's essentially the expected result.
I think people are just too quick to throw stones at LeBron here as if he actually made things worse. He didn't. If anything he got a lot of the bad apples siphoned out of other public schools in the area and probably improved those schools by default.

This area Joe mentioned is 150 miles from Akron. This is a different population and problem.
Posted on 8/23/25 at 5:48 am to ohieaux
Fair enough
But Akron is a notoriously poor area also that has a lot of crime issues
Thinking that you're going to take the bottom quartile of that population and make them into scholars is a bit delusional. But it's better than just giving up on those kids. They didn't choose the situation they were born into.
