Challenging Daniel Negranu, now

quote:

Ossi “Monarch” Ketola’s high-stakes adventure at the Onyx Super High Roller Series in Cyprus has been nothing short of brutal. First, he dropped $2 million in a heads-up clash with Kayhan Mokri. The next day, things got even worse as Dan “Jungleman” Cates handed the Finnish entrepreneur a $15 million loss in what is now the biggest televised poker game in history.

quote:

Undeterred, Ketola is already eyeing more challenges. When a fan on social media suggested he face Daniel Negreanu, he replied: “would love to, I think he’s super gay. Would love to mog him.” In online slang, “mog” means to completely outclass or dominate someone.

I can only imagine the washed up old names who will jump in to re-live the glory days. I have to imagine Paul Phua will let Tom Dwan leave China/Macau to play, at some point. Guy in many ways made Dwan during his big, early career.

He has 4.75 million in tournament winnings on Hendon Mob and is probably down 9 figures. That’s why judging players off total tournament winnings is dumb.

would love to mog him

Are we sure he doesn’t want to suck Negreanu’s cock?

At what age would one become “washed up” when it comes to poker?

Jungleman is one of the most gifted poker players, a heads up specialist in a variety of games, and back to back winner of the 50k poker player championship. Why on earth would this Monarch play him is beyond me.

Counter-strike and being an "entrepreneur/investor" or something

Typically around 30 when the male brain starts to weaken

Poker is a sport for the young

I would agree. Poker is a mental grind and it's not the peak processing power that you lose so much as you get older, it's mental stamina. When I play online chess my win rate is probably 75% in my first 5 or so games that day and 25% (or less) later in the day.

Not going to lie, biggest thing I got from this is more confirmation we can say things are gay again, and that the world is healing.

Poker is not chess. I don’t care if you read Super System. Playing for fun is terrible because it is a simple, shitty game. It’s closer to the slot machine than chess. It’s closer to Go Fish than gin rummy or bridge.

Yeah seems like just a straight up bad decision on it's face, could always be more to it though that we don't know about I guess.

Well that's a take for sure. Considering that even the smallest forms of poker have exponentially higher combinatorial complexity. Computers solved chess in the 80s-90s. Poker is only solved for a heads-up Texas Holdem variants today.

There's a reason no one is playing $15 million dollar chess matches.

Still a reasonable starting point to get a broad introduction to a wide array of games imo
