quote:

Jean Pormanove was tortured for 10 days. TEN days of physical and psychological suffering. Ten days that destroyed it. Torture is not limited to beatings: mental violence also kills. Jean died because of them.

quote:

Reports indicate he was subjected to significant violence and deprived of sleep, which has been documented in his content uploaded to Kick. French Minister in Charge of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, Clara Chappaz, supported that claim in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Jean Pormanove was humiliated and mistreated for months live on the Kick platform,” and adding, “The violence he endured is an absolute horror.” Many others are also suggesting that Jean’s death may have been brought on by the mistreatment he endured. Dexerto shared comments from French media outlets noting that, before his passing, Jean spent “10 days and nights of torture,” which included “extreme” physical violence, “deprivation of sleep,” and “ingestion of toxic products.” Additional speculation suggests Jean was being “held hostage” by his co-streamers, while others believe he was used purely as “entertainment.”

OP, bet you can’t make it 11

The initial tweet is in French, there is seemingly some dogshit translation below that might as well still be in French, and the pictures don’t correlate to create a clear story of what the “torture” was or his actual cause of death.

So back to my initial though, try for 11 OP

Here's an actual article.

LINK

quote:

French police are investigating the death of a popular streamer, who died during a nearly 12-day live stream after apparently suffering abusive and humiliating treatment.

Raphaël Graven, 46, known online as Jean Pormanove or JP, is one of the biggest streamers in France on the platform Kick and died on Monday.

The 46-year-old military veteran had built a following numbering more than a million across different platforms streaming himself playing video games and had often appeared in extreme challenges.

He had been collaborating since 2023 with several other streamers, principally Owen Cenazandotti, known as Naruto online, and Safine Hamadi, both of whom took part in his final livestream.

Cenazandotti announced his death Monday on Instagram. In the video livestream that appeared to show his death, after he stopped moving, viewers donated money to send messages alerting the sleeping streamers to Pormanove’s condition.

The Nice prosecutor’s office told CNN that an investigation has been opened into his death and an autopsy ordered. So far, authorities have not announced any charges related to Pormanove’s death.

In dozens of videos from past livestreams reviewed by CNN, Pormanove appears to be the target of jokes, bullying, physical attacks and degrading stunts.

So guy was participating in what is loosely known as a "torture stream". Bunch of streamers agree to do multi week live streams where they are essentially tortured by other streamers and the viewers (via super chats that trigger rewards or punishments). Most famous right now is probably Sam Hyde's Fishtank. They are made to humiliate themselves, go without sleep, do challenges, etc. Looks like this one went too far and a man with health issues died.

Eta: it was sarcasm. How many years has it been since Elon changed it to X? Why do they keep printing that?

TL;DR this guy was mentally challenged in some way and these people took advantage.

The police were made aware of this in January. They questioned the streamers who denied it and the police were like oh, OK, carry on.

Kick is getting a lot of criticism for knowingly hosting the streamers. They were also made aware of it and not only didnt do anything, they actively promoted it. Kick is also being accused of brigading critical posts on reddit.

Yep, got all this down.

Same.

If it had been a video I'd be lost though.

I don't like these kind of streams. I think they are gross, but let's not act like Pormanove was some innocent baby going into this. He was fit enough to serve in the military. He was a willing participant, and a lot of this stuff is staged or exagerrated to generate revenue.

I hope Kick and other services stop allowing this stuff on their platforms because I find it perverse, but this wasn't murder. This was a middle aged man with a heart condition that died in his sleep from over exertion and stress.

ETA: After digging deeper, I retract my statement. This wasn't a few weeks. This was years of torture. They paid this man 6000 Euros a month to be tortured.

Someone stop the world and let me off. For the life of me, I can't imagine anyone being interested in that.
