Saints Trade for Broncos WR Devaugn Vele

Actually like this move. Kid is a solid player and is for “future considerations” so very low risk.

He’s a really good, big body player. Interesting to see how much we gave up, it’s his 2nd year but he’s like 27 or 28.

Actually seems like a lot to give up. Maybe it gives us a chance to fairly evaluate our QBs by giving them another weapon but a 4th is pretty hefty.

In all likelihood that fourth rounder is going to be right around pick 100 if it’s the Saints non-compensatory pick. The Broncos drafted this guy last year with the 235th pick.
Maybe that doesn’t matter if this guy is just good and the Broncos just drafted well. But it feels like we should be able to get more value with a pick 135 places above where he was drafted if we had any confidence in our own evaluation process.

He is 6’5, definitely can’t hurt.

Yeah, in theory I think we would be fine with drafting a player as good as Vele in the 4th. He’s 6’5 210, it will be huge for our QB to have a big possession WR like him. He actually looks similar to MT13 the way he runs slants and uses his body to screen defenders.

Agreed and it’s not like he’s young, he’s already 27. We don’t even know if we have a QB. Why are we trading a 4th for a 27 year old non star WR?

Saints are getting a 4th rd comp pick next draft anyway. We still have a bunch of picks to work with. Great trade for both teams. Especially if Vele is healthy.
