Nachitoches Parish Journal Article
Maybe at the High School level the Coach is trying to play the best player in an effort to try to win games so he doesn't get shitcanned?

But when summer ball came, those promises were broken. The same handful of players dominated the field, and freshmen were added to JV and Varsity rosters—while upperclassmen who had spent years working hard for the team were left on the bench.

The fact he didnt sign his name to the letter tells me he wrote it while sitting in a motel room cuck chair whilst the coach in question took his wife deep.

I member when our coaches played thr best players in order to win. If you sucked you'd get played when there was no chance your suckness could mess up the outcome

Our coaches back in the late 70’s, early 80’s told us the reason that we weren’t playing was because we sucked. It was dog eat dog.

The only shred of a point she may have although I dont think her solution and mine are the same.
There is no shame in Juniors and Seniors playing JV. If you take it seriously and put in some good reps then you are the first man up when someone is in a slump or beat up. That's the way it works at any level.
High school varsity sports is too late for drastic development 16-18 years are for the most part whatever they are going to be by that point. Love it or leave it.
But there is value in striving for self improvement and being the best that you can be regardless of playing time. That's the lesson that you lose when you encourage kids to quit or openly blame the coach for their athletic deficiency.
ETA: NC is a 5A school with 1200 students in a competitive district. There is DEFINATELY no shame in playing JV as a Junior or Senior.

Learning to quit when aren’t good at something is a valuable lesson to learn. Your boy can’t hit, pitch, or field. Focus his attention somewhere else

There are 9 spots at the table, step up or step out. The coach will play the best 9 to win. More importantly how will these kids react to the real world when things get tough at a job or just life in general. Quit raising soft kids. Sad

At a slightly older time frame about ten years prior our coach had “studs” or “rinky-dinks”.
He made no bones about it when he started the season briefing the parents and school at a meeting right before summer practices. He didn’t know who was which yet, but he was going to find out quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Sounds like, uhh baseball to me. Your kid sucked as a freshman and he still sucks as a senior, I don't care how hard he works at practice if he can't catch a ball and hit one 450' dead center, sit down for someone who can.

This is the biggest issue with the generation we are raising. Having the answer to most questions at your finger tips doesn't help. You get the answer right away without having to work for it. We want what we want and we want it now.
