Astros game on TBS blacked out on my cable and on MAX in Ruston. I watched the Rangers on FS1 last week.

MLB needs to fix their stupid blackout policies.
Move to Iowa and a quarter of the league is blacked out. Pathetic.

I pay for fubotv for 6 months just to watch Astros

How does that work… just looked it up and it has a Texas Rangers plan for like$15/mth… don’t see anything about Astros

Fubotv carries space city network which carries all the astros games except when they are on an alternate network like fox, appletv or prime.
They also have texas rangers network if your interested. And gulf coast sports network that carries pelicans games. They don’t have espnu, tbs or tnt though.
I just subscribe monthly. Its like $94. Only for baseball season. Youtubetv is better for football

Posted this on the Movie/TV board thread too...
It was blacked out because the game was broadcast by both TBS/TNT and Space City Home Network. Any game that is broadcast by SCHN is subject to normal blackout rules regardless of a simultaneous national broadcast.
This doesn't apply to the bigger national games like Apple on Friday nights, Fox on Saturdays or ESPN on Sundays because SCHN will not broadcast along side those.
Blackout rules are annoying and archaic but the regional channels pay teams a lot of money for exclusive TV rights so they do still exist. In this case the Astros actually own 50% of the network and it appears to be very fruitful for them financially.
The Astros are the only team that does not offer a blackout-free direct to consumer service and it has something to do with the network setup. LINK
Each year the rules change and get more relaxed. I think as these tv contracts start to age and expire the blackouts will be a thing of the past. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
