Have you seen the pitching from this little kid from South Dakota , Maxen Snoozy ??
I couldn’t believe the spin on the ball from this little mite who spits like a major leaguer . He struck out 14 with no runs , lefty , Jay needs to invite him to LSU . I think 14 strike outs is a record for little league baseball .
They are so cute at that age !!

Thanks for the heads-up.
I've only been able to catch a few at-bats here and there.
I like to follow it. Got to keep up with the Lafayette team for the newspaper a few years ago when they made it to Williamsport.

A lot of the best players in the country do play little league when its convenient for them and the coaches. These kids you see in the LLWS are for the most part high end travel ball players who sign up for LL also and play the bare minimum of games so they can put together and all star team once the travel season ends. You think that east bank team was all rec league players? yeah right.

I had been wondering how that all worked to get those kids on the team. Basically they recruit kids who are already playing travel ball to go to Butch Duhe for rec with the understanding that they will play on the All-Star team. I would suspect almost every kid in the LLWS is on a travel ball team.

There’s talent there, but the actual best travel ball teams dog walk the LL teams.

no they are all travel kids at the LLWS but they are not close to the best of the best at all. You want to see the best, go watch select fest or go to PGI or Beast of the East.
most of the kids in the LLWS are AAA players. Like the team from texas from last year that made it and made to 13u this year...thats mainly from 1 travel team, a mediocre AAA team. Same with the lafayette team that made it. Now the East bank team was mainly from renegades and they were majors but most part they aint. THe kid from Lake Mary last year and the big boy this year were elite but there is none of the select fest kids there. In the state of LA there wasnt a top 20 player in the state playing that I know of and I know most of them.

they are, that doesnt mean they are elite in travel. that was my point.

Amazing how you know SO much about literally every youth baseball team and player in the region. I thought it was just Barbe. Wow.

if you have a higher level kid playing its not hard to know who the good teams are and the good players. there arent that many.

Understood. I don't, can't relate. I DO recall a LL team from SLC that made it to the LLWS finals around 2008? Had half the team end up playing D1 sports I believe. I think they were multiple sport athletes. Maybe they were the exception.

2008 was a completely different time. travel was not the same as today
and yea SLC LL has sent teams in 92, 01, 06, 08
92 was led by Jared Gothreaux who played at mcneese after barbe. Spent 4 years in AAA in Round Rock but couldnt quite break into majors. Has a successful pitching academy in LC now.
01 was led by Carmen Angelini who ended up getting drafted in the 10th round out of Barbe, made it to AAA but couldnt break through.
06 team was led by Gavin Cecchini and Gabe Von Rosenberg (Zachs brother). Gavin went on to be first round pick of the Mets, played 2 seasons with the mets. Owns Luccini now
the 08 team had Kennon Fontentot, Trey Quinn, Gunner Leger, Beau & Bryce Jordan
Kennon was the QB at Barbe throwing to Trey Quinn and Desean Smith who set all the records, top 10 all time in LA and went on to play at ULL. Does industrial sales and coaches travel ball now.
Trey went football route and is WR coach at St Louis now
Gunner went to ULL and is the pitching coach at ULL currently
Beau & bryce both played at LSU. I think Beau works for MMR in BR or he was atleast. Not sure on Bryce
Kennon, Gunner, Beau & Bryce helped Barbe go 39-2 in 2014 7 win state and maxpreps NC.

Collin Johnson from Renegades Black is legit. He was an 11 yr old. So was Jonas Creppell. Charlie Bartlett was 11 for travel, plays for Renegades Red that is Majors now. They may have been younger for that age group but they're top kids in the state. Unfortunately for that team, they had really good players on 11U Eastbank and several other really good players stuck with JPRD. If you pooled all of that together, they'd still be playing right now even with a mostly young team.

yea there are some of the younger kids that are legit. But for actual 12u kids...not many in the state played. Many of them are not eligible because they are summer bdays but none of the top kids from north LA, LC, Laf played. AP I think had 1 or 2 maybe and East bank had the younger ones you mentioned.
for example not a single kid on the 13u (perfect game all state team that will represent the state in Houston in Nov against the rest of the country played 12majors little league this year.
Posted on 8/20/25 at 4:40 pm to lsu777
Yep. And the 11U kids in the Eastbank system now just got there. They had some weak stretches before them and it looks like they'll have some weak stretches after them. But, if that group comes back as 12s next year and they add a few more from JPRD, they will have a legit chance at winning the whole thing. It will basically be Renegades Black and Red combined, both Majors teams.

Yes , my husband said the same thing . I hope not , but that surgery started with major leaugers , then college , now high schoolers .

This!
Nit trying to “big time “ anyone or whatnot… but we had 4-5 players on our 12u travel team who would have made This dude look average.
And I’m talking about legit dudes… freshman starting in LO state runner up team, 8th grader dealing for Doyle’s varsity, etc.
The big boy fields is an equalizer, and bbcor bats even more!

Or you could have just watched Tanner S play little league. Who was probably the best 12u player in the state 2 years ago. Some of the best travel ball players in the area play AP LL. Most don’t sure, but some do. Saying a travel ball TEAM would beat a team that has about 2-3 kids off different teams is just a fact. But also saying the best of the best don’t play is false.
