Creatin questions.

I'm in my mid 50's trying to work out much more. I want to do creatine. WHen I take it, it gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. What am I doing wrong? How and when should I take it.

I just add 5 grams to my protein shake in the morning after working out.

How much are you taking? I believe most common side effect is upset stomach.

Take with food and water. If taking more than 5 grams, try splitting it up.

I had the same symptoms when I started. Some people do ok mixing it with a protein shake, but found that made me nauseated. I switched to mixing a 5g scoop with 8oz of water and chugging it right before dinner helped that. Real food instead of a protein shake kind of mellowed it out. I also make sure to drink 48oz of water or so between when I take the creatine and when I go to bed. If I don't, I wake up at 3am all dried out and with a pounding headache.

Also don’t “load” it just take the normal dose

I've currently been taking for 3 months, and don't get headaches, but no matter the water I drink, I still wake up at 2 or 3am and need water desperately.

When do you take it? I usually eat an orange, take it with a little water, then eat my breakfast. That's after working out, so I've had 32oz of water already at least. And I drink a shite ton of water all day. I don't have the digestive or headache issues, but I'm thirsty often enough to keep drinking.

I try mornings but on days I work out in the evening I wait until after my workout.

I need to start taking early morning every day and see how that works.

As someone else pointed out, buy creapure creatine. Also, I just mix mine in with my coffee each morning.
