Rattler is not the dude
Ride with Shough, more upside

Honestly don’t know which one to ride with. We’ve scored 3 field goals. Can’t win many games that way.

Shoughs the guy even without the bias all the people making this decision will have. It makes too much sense for many reasons.

Shough had no protection and a huge drop from Olave

I’m hoping that the organization knew this roster didn’t have a lot of talent and was punting on this year. How else do you explain going into the season with the three quarterbacks that we have? You can’t be serious about competing and playing a season with three quarterbacks they have have a combined 0 wins among them.

I rather lose with Shough than lose with Rattler. More was invested in him and he’s just a more exciting player to watch.

Can I ask how his more exciting in what way?

I genuinely don’t know how people can watch the two and not see that Shough is significantly more talented throwing the ball.
When he has time he has the ability to make all the throws.
When he has time he has the ability to make all the throws.

Just a personal opinion. This was, by far, the most exciting game Rattler has played in. My opinion was based on the previous 8 games. He just seems to dump it off a lot and he always waits for the player to be open before throwing it. I like that Shough leads his receivers on passes, increasing the likelihood of big plays, which this team would much need. Nothing scientific at all, I personally, just feel like I would have more “edge of my seat” moments with Shough starting over Rattler. With that being said, that last drive had me on the edge of my seat, and Rattler impressed the hell out of me there. But I still don’t see him being the future that I could see Shough being.

The pass near the sideline to Tipton that set up the TD is the opposite of waiting for the player to be open before throwing it. He literally threw Tipton open.

Wtf does this even mean? Shough is still brand new to the NFL. Why does age matter? Please think before you post

It was. That was an exception and why it was the best series he’s ever played as a Saint. If he did that consistently, my opinion could be different.

WTF are you talking about? Statues aren't exciting to watch

You’re right, pocket passers like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would never be successful or fun to watch.

Do not put Shough in the same sentence with those other names

Let’s just hope it was a product of his growth and maturity. Hope it continues.

You make it seem like Rattler is an 8 year vet himself.

Shough ran a 4.63 40, and Rattler ran a 4.95.

b/c if you are drafting a guy to possibly be your franchise QB, you'd like to have them for as long as possible... drafting a guy that will be 26 for the majority of his rookie season is not exactly ideal when thinking about building around a franchise QB... QBs typically begin hitting their peak at this age, so using the same time line as other QBs, taking 2-4 years to hit their peak, we are looking at 28-30 before Shough hits his... considering usual retirement age for QB is 35-37, with a noticeable decline 1-2 years before retirement, you are looking at 3-4 years of peak franchise QB play, AT BEST... that's not a long time, and THAT is why people are down on this pick... if he EVER gets to franchise QB level (not likely), it would be for a very short amount of time vs. normal aged QBs who end up franchise QBs
