West of Houston. Had first group of blues show up two days early (8/13). 15th is their usual arrival date.

Hell yeah! Ready for those little jets to land in Louisiana

Zero arrivals yet here in New Roads, LA. Usually see a few drakes make a pit stop on False River by late August.

Started showing up this past Wednesday. I saw a couple hundred in the second crop Rice this morning.

Friend was sent a video this AM of some alleged teal in SWLA rice, timing about right. Full moon of Sept 7th will be some more significant movements southward

You can almost book it that if there is a significant amount of second crop, Rice flooded by August 15 that teal will start showing up.

Saw the first teal of the year sunday at our place in Bayou Black. A dozen or so. Got the blood pumping.

Two small bunches of blue wings in Shell Beach Friday mid-morning, no other flights seen but that timing is about right.

Just saw a couple dozen in a flooded field near Crowley

Any new reports? The Basin is holding a few, lots of woodduck and squelers with a few teal mixed in

I know I’m in a different flyway, but had a good push last week. Saw more ducks than doves Monday. Buddies from work had some Sandhills land on their pond Tuesday afternoon. Didn’t see this many birds until 3/4th week of September last year. It’s been a very mild and very wet summer up here. All the farmers keep telling me it’s going to be an early and cold winter, which if true, bodes well for you guys down there.

Birdcast.com was lit up last night! Should be at least a billion teal in ElCampo, TX.

I probably saw 10 times the amount of teal this morning.
That isn’t saying much because I had only been seeing 12-13.

Cold front came thru yesterday and doves moved out and ducks moved in, lots of big birds this morning as well.

Oh yeah, spoons, greys and a few mallards too. I’m beginning to think some aren’t leaving in the spring like they should. Or at least that was our theory last night while kicking the fire.
Lots of water in the panhandle this year and a frick ton of grain on the ground. I don’t know why the farmers reseed some of these fields there’s so much left behind.

BIG push of birds with the Moonlight Express earlier this week. Garwood prairie - West of Houston.

We had a lot before that full moon. Guess they all moved out, but more should’ve moved in with that moon. Now it’s just gonna be hot.
