What made it so big? Dance music in clubs? Bridge between whites and blacks? Clothes styles?
We see other genres belting out new music still today. To my knowledge there isn't recent disco music? Is there? Is it even a genre?

I agree as coke was readily available and affordable during the Disco era. Compounded with promiscuity and lots of sex between heterosexual and homosexuals. 5 years later many of the club regulars were diagnosed with and died of AIDS

Not all dance music is the same. Disco differs from the boots and pants dance music that became popular after it.

Cheap, easy to produce brain rot for the masses.
They didn’t have to deal with squabbles among band mates and their associated problems.
Just get a front person or “band” and have everything done in the studio by producers and studio musicians.

Gavin Turek might be the closest to a modern disco queen out today. She does stuff with Tuxedo, too.

After the CIA introduced it into the gay community.

Never did cocaine. But, i was a regular at the disco. The girls were there so, the guys followed

Something about the rhythmic bass beat girls have to shake to. That alone was a sort of aphrodisiac to them.

I still enjoy disco music. When I'm at the gym doing cardio, it is great up tempo music that has me at a higher pace. It works for me.

Saturday Night Fever movie and soundtrack. Travolta got everyone wearing cowboy hats and two stepping in Urban Cowboy then he flipped ‘em to disco which sucked and is why I became a punk.

If you take the raised high hat off the upbeat and stop playing straight 8’s on the kick, your disco song can suddenly become just another R&B classic
