According to head coach Kellen Moore, both tight end Foster Moreau and Taysom Hill are not close to a return to the field. Rather, "they're not ready to get on the field any time soon", via Moore. The depth at TE for Moore's offense is a notable concern due to these injuries.

Hadn't planned on getting my hopes up anyhow.

He will be on PUP which will not hold a roster spot.

Both of these guys tore their knees up late last season, Taysom majorly tore his up. (And he's and old man in NFL years) Some of us have been telling you all this for months now that neither of these guys would be playing until late in the 2025 season if at all (In Hills case).

None of this is a surprise.

Moreau is a starting TE in the NFL. He ain't Bowers but he is a guy you can get by with.

I'm not arguing that. but you will not get by with him while he is injured. When and if he returns this season we will have to hope he can return to his peak performance, but it's not a given that he will be the same player he was prior to the knee injury.

Taysom is beyond done. Accept it.
Moreau is a league replacement level player who had a serious injury. Is what it is.

Honestly thats two contracts that need to be looked at, moved to the "cut bait" stack. Neither can stay healthy, TH is old Moreau not an upper level TE.

Comes across as major wish casting

Because a 35 year old who was getting progressively more banged up and blew out multiple knee ligaments is going to be a shell of his previous self?

No that’s just reality.

If you’re in ANY way reliant on that type of player you’re going to be in for a ROUGH season.

Yes wish casting. He has to heal and rehab just like any player. None of it means “he’s done” when he gets back to the field.

They should probably release cut him. Hes 35, last real year in his contract and if they cut him now they’ll save some money i believe. I doubt he plays much this year and to be honest this team is rebuilding and he isn’t a priority.

I am no expert on this, but cutting an injured player is complicated. That's why teams typically make settlement offers to injured players they don't want to keep, but I am not sure what incentive a player has to accept a settlement offer if they are not looking to get on with another team. Of course, most players do want to sign with another team, so they teak a settlement lower than what they are owed in salary to become essentially a free agent. In short, I don't know how much $ the Saints save by cutting a guy like Hill who (I think) is in his last contract year.

He had almost 500yd, 7.5ypc/r, and 6TD in only 8 games just this past season.

We’d all agree if he didn’t tear a ton of ligaments in his knee along with being 35 years old.

He's a high quality 2nd TE. He's a passable starter only if you're loaded with weapons elsewhere on offense.
