Most flights to the states are operated by the regional carriers but Air Canada is cancelling all mainline and Air Canada Rouge flights as of August 16th due to a flight attendant strike. Some will be cancelled prior to that in preparation.

quote:

Air Canada is preparing for a strike by its flight attendant union by winding down operations for Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. Unless an agreement is reached, all flights will cease operations as of August 16, 2025. Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz and PAL Airlines are not affected and will continue to operate.

The mud slinging by the airline and the union on social media is getting vicious

Update: All Air Canada flights officially canceled. The flights operated by affiliates under the Air Canada name are continuing, of course.

This was always the plan. Air Canada Express is still operating as it operates using secondary carriers.

I'm sure they'll be thrilled being forced to go back to work . If it was tough getting a pre departure beverage before, good luck now

Union leader said today that if he has to go to jail over the continued strike "so be it".

Based on my limited interaction with AC crews, it’s probably warranted.

I've only flown AC once, and it was on Express. I don't think I'm missing much.

I’ve never flown AC, but thought they were a pretty respectable/decent airline

Airline and the union came to an agreement this morning. Flights will start to resume today but may take a few days before they are fully up and running.
