With his 253rd dong of his career, Pete Alonso passes Darryl Strawberry as the all-time Mets Dong King. Congrats to the Polar Bear!

Not bad for a guy thrown under the bus earlier this year by a certain obese teammate. Never forget when Fatass Soto blamed his slow start on not having “the best hitter in baseball” (factual) protecting him. But never forget when the class act that is Captain America THE JUDGE defended him, saying that Pete Alonso is one of the best hitters in baseball.

Soto won a World Series and beat the Astros when it mattered

Can’t say either about Judge

253 DONGS is still fewer than you've taken.

I’ve never played Major League Baseball, so I’ve cranked zero.

Mets are kind of a poverty franchise, tbh. The way they were celebrating david wright a few weeks ago like he was mike schmidt or some shite was hilarious

Because he was thrown under the bus by an obese and underperforming teammate and was defended by a fellow LEGENDARY (shoutout to Shady Sanders) New York athlete. Context must be had.

Good for Palonso, but that’s a pathetic all-time-leading number for such a historic franchise

well….since you mentioned it

Wright was celebrated that way for a few reasons

he is an absolutely beloved teammate and former player

mets 3rd base history is horrific, except for Wright

mets are not known for developing players and keeping them

Wright fought injuries his entire career and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in 2015 which was pretty much the end of his career after 10 years

he is easily the best Mets homegrown player not in the HOF and he spent his entire career in a Mets uniform

his career very closely mirrors Ron Santo but Santo had a much better later career that put him in the HOF. Wright tailed off with injuries and fell short
