This was expected. The rate increase was small and resulted in a big boost to the stock market.

Wait until when (if) China tariffs actually become a reality.

That can has been kicked down the road so often that it now needs replaced.

Airfares, dental care, auto insurance, medical care, and rent were among the biggest drivers of upside in CPI. How much are the tariffs on those?

There were zero effects of inflation due to tarrifs in the report

Why dont you tell us what 3 ssctors caused any inflation

Then tell us the one that has the most weight
And tell us how they get that number
Then tell us if you tbink that number can ever be accurate based on how they collect the data

What happened to your 80k monthly bill?

Tariffs never make anything cheaper. Sellers are in business to make profits, not absorb losses. It will also raise the cost of living in unrelated things because they rely so heavily on foreign supplies.

Rent?
Insurance?

I don’t disagree with your point. But this report isn’t showing tariff effects.

LOL.

We import most medical and dental supplies and auto parts (which factors into how much auto insurance has to pay out to fix someone's car). Similarly, increased prices on lumber and steel and aluminum make it more expensive to maintain and renovate property. This might not affect the small landlord in the short term who has 1 or 2 properties to rent, but it definitely will move the needle for large companies who own lots of properties. When they raise their rents to compensate, so will everyone else, even if they haven't had to spend money on renovations. They'll do it b/c they can, because it's the new going rate.

What's left...airfares? Airlines will see reduced cargo flights with tariffs, resulting in a loss of revenue that has to be made up somehow. They will also suffer just like auto insurance companies and construction and rental companies due to increased costs of parts and materials.

I've been telling y'all for a year at least. Just because you love Trump, that doesn't mean that he can work magic. Tariffs cost money, and American consumers are going to be the ones paying it.

Hopefully as these numbers come in, you will start believing it.

Just wait and see what it does to home prices this time next year. Probably some of y'all thought those were high already...just wait.

P.S. What do you notice about the drivers you listed? I notice that they are all relatively inelastic products/services. You have to have a place to live. if you need medical care, you're going to get it. If you have to fly from here to there for business, you do it without regard for the cost. You have to have auto insurance to drive (unless you're illegal, I guess).

My conclusion from that list is that you're seeing the industries who know that the consumers of their products/services have few alternatives but to keep buying even if the price goes up.

Other industries may not have started passing along costs to consumers yet, hoping to be the last of their competitors to resort to doing so in order to build some market share.

But just wait. You will see. Biden's inflation wasn't squat.

1) stock market is pretty much flat since inauguration.

2) it’s mostly being propped up by AI investment and really not much else, outside the Mag 7 it’s kinda tough.
