In the market for a new daily carry. Want a spring assisted open with a serrated blade. Prefer to keep it under $40 if possible. I carry a kershaw now, but want something new. Any recommendations?

I have been carrying a civivi. I really enjoy the texture of the handle.

Double your price point and get a serrated equivalent to the Kershaw Leek. 14C28N is significantly better than 8Cr13MoV and worth the extra money.

ETA: I say this after losing my 10 year old Leek and buying a $30 kershaw 8Cr13MoV because of how much the price went up on the Leek. Should have just bought another one. It’s not even close.

Not an assisted opening knife, but my favorite is a Swiss Army Trekker. Lots of useful options, can be opened with one hand and is available with serrated or regular knife blade. I use mine very frequently. Trekker

I have been carrying Kershaw Ken Onion design for several years. It's thin and clips on your pocket. Easy to open.

I’d advise against anything spring assist. Maybe I have bad luck, but if had the spring fail a few times. It’s the weak link. Just get a flipper

Or anything with a crossbar lock like Benchmade. My beater work knife has been a Benchmade Presidio for years, always been easy for one-handed opening and closing with a snap of the wrist or thumb-stud flick. When it gets too full of sawdust and lint to work smoothly I just blast it with WD40, shake/wipe it off, and it's back in business. Some people will fault the omega springs as a potential failure point but I have around 20 Benchmade knives and have never had one fail in the last 22 years of owning them.
