New truck consideration

I have just about talked myself into a new truck. I’ve located a new Sierra SLT with a 3.0 duramax and a local dealer has some Laramie Rams with around $17-$18k off.
Both are about the same price. Both have leather, sunroofs, running boards, 4x4, basically creature comforts. I’ve been looking at the pros and cons of each. Everything I’ve read on both engines seem positive. Ram supposedly is extremely comfortable with a highly regarded interior. GMC has good resale value and small diesel gets great mpg. Only real knock I see with GMC is it is an older design. Ram depreciates quicker and engine is newer so there is an unknown.
I can’t get myself to trust the new Tundra motor and I’ve never had any good luck with Fords.
Just gotta decide what’s most important comfort or reliability.

Should go with either a Honda Ridgeline or Nissan Frontier

GMC is coming with new truck, new engines. Ram definitely has better interior. We sell both, but yeah, that Ram resale value is pretty bad. If you are buying to sell in a couple years, go GMC. If you’ll keep til wheels fall off, you could make a great argument for the Ram…

While I can appreciate the Ridgeline the Nissan is a no go. I should have mentioned I need a little more capability over a midsize.

1992 F150 single cab with the V8

As long as they’re making full size trucks with turbocharged V6 engines instead of V8s, no thank you.

Do some research on that 3.0 Duramax.
Plan to get rid of it long before the timing chain is due to be replaced.

This is the OT. Important thing is getting the Truck Nutz.

You should consider what you can pay cash for.

Look into GM transmission problems…

Buy a used, low mileage 5.7L Tundra. 4wd. Thank me later. 15 mpg for about 350k miles.

In all honesty at this point there isn’t one better to the other. They all have there demons just depends on what u want trim package and how much u want to pay.
Ram resale valve is pretty bad and they are having a serious problem with the gauge clusters going out.
Old GM’s had transmission issues I’m not sure about the new ones.
Ford has electrical issues and some transmission issues.
Just got to pick ur poison.

2026 RAMs have a 10 year / 100,000 mile power train warranty.

I had a 2021 Sierra with the 3.0 diesel. Hit 100,000 miles and had the timing chain issue. Had no truck for a few months and they wanted $9000 to replace it.
I fought with warranty and the dealership and traded it in for a new 5.3L gasser. Didn’t want to change that chain on the diesel every 4 years for that much money…
Maybe the design has changed in the new ones?

Sounds like you need a Toyota Sienna

But yet you will buy the worst vehicle manufacturer on the planet stellantis... Interesting
Your life will be better if you skip the GM or ram garbage.
At least Toyota actually recalled their issue and replaced all the engines. All the other companies deny forever

Find a yr 20-22 Tundra with the V8. Miles doesnt matter. You can put 400K on it.

Every Latino man wants a big arse truck, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I am curious do you know if it had the updated timing chain?

The cost issue is the timing chain is in the back of the engine, one might scream poor engineering but they should last the life of the engine. Of course, for that to happen the engineers should have made sure it got a little lubrication now and again.
