Take those combined funds and Geaux after that QB who was #1 on our National QB list and committed to Oklahoma !!

We need another QB competing NEXT year after Nussmeier leaves for NFL.

The following year…. Who knows if we sign ANY of the QBs in state of Louisiana.

We don't need a HS QB next year. That's why LSU isn't rushing for one. They need an experienced starter who hits the portal which is likely what they'll do to replace Nuss.

Agree. We need a transfer QB with experience. Going in with Van buren, Hurley, and a freshman won’t cut it.

I don’t think we need to give up on Van Buren just yet.. once he’s a year in the program and more comfortable, and hopefully he gets some garbage time this year. And next year he can be the guy. I mean the dude showed some promise last year @texas and @georgia

If he's willing to stay and develop sure, but right now he's not the answer next year.

No reason to give up on him, but they absolutely have to go get a transfer in the offseason with skins on the wall. I think they also need to sign a high school QB in the 26 class because either Hurley or MVB will be moving on if they aren’t starting next season. The goal should be to always have at least 3 scholarship QB’s on the roster.

Really don’t want to go into Spring practices with only 2 scholarship QB’s

Ohio State & another big-time program backed out of the Savion Hiter bidding war. Looks like Tenner may be willing to pay his price.

This is how business is done in the world, and now in the CFB world. I bought a boat for $740k and sold 2 years later for $220k more. I've done the same for land. And, I've lost $200k on a boat, so it's all relative. Someone values the #1 RB in this class at more than another.

Pretty much comes down to "need".

Everyone on this thread is saying… forget the HS quarterback for 2026 and Geaux after a Transfer Portal Target.

Ok…. I’ll roll with your suggestions.

Give suggestions of who to pursue then !!

it’s a little tough to project QB transfers for next year weeks before this season starts

If there was a transfer QB at a high enough quality to replace Nuss, he would’ve already transferred to a school this offseason with an open spot.

We need to add another QB but MVB flashed as a true freshman in an awful situation at Moo St. Go to YouTube and pull up some of his highlights, seeing is believing.

I’m not betting on it, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he was our starter in 2026.

Some guys take it ALL into account...... How many WR are coming back, how many in the incoming class, and NIL. I'm not saying he's scared to compete, but he needs to go to what's the best fit for him.

We all know that it's Auburn, and in his career they'll probably be relvant for one year.

If Nuss gets invited to attend the Heisman Ceremony in NYC in early December and as long as we've got Sloan, someone will look at how well Jayden is presently playing and will want that.

Transfer QB with experience? Like that Ms St starter that transferred and appears to have no impact so far?

I prefer a Bird-In-Hand ……
rather than Gamble on who MIGHT be in the portal in one year and IF we can entice them to LSU !!

I would at least prefer to pursue the Oklahoma QB we lost…. and secure someone for the roster with a High Ceiling …because no one behind Nussmeier has displayed a high ceiling as yet on the 2025 roster.

I would rather that course of action than put all LSU eggs in 1 basket and HOPE we sign a good Transfer Portal QB in 2026.

I would also prefer to avoid the other crappy scenario of bringing in a High school signal caller in 2027 and needing to play him immediately AFTER losing an entire year of possible QB development if we can’t even find a quality portal QB in 2026.

They didn't "back out". That's the new spin coming out of Columbus these days every time they don't get a recruit.

Also I don't believe going forward that the portal is the holy grail like in past years with teams willing and able to compensate their better players. A school with coaching turnover or that has player way above his level of talent in the MAC or somewhere and they can't match an offer are still fertile ground.

Of late its schools just are refusing to pay some kids based on their contribution and replaceability. Justice Haynes comes to mind. You don't hear the same angst in Tuscaloosa as when Caleb Downs left.

Well you better get used to that now. Nobody that thinks they are worth a flip will sit behind anyone for more than one year.
