For those that always say north of 1-10 isn’t Louisiana…

I originally posted this as a reply in the “Missing Louisiana” thread but wasn’t sure it would have the same impact of having its own thread, so here it is….
Y’all always say this shite like it is some insult to those of us that live in North Louisiana. Got news for you, it isn’t. Other than the food and fishing for red fish in the gulf, what is so great about south Louisiana that makes it better than North Louisiana. We have great fishing lakes and hunting spots up here also. I can cook the shite out of the same types of food in my kitchen that any coon arse can cook in his. And I don’t have to worry about freaking hurricanes or be affected quite as badly by the impacted insurance rates.
And don’t say the people. My wife grew up in Scott. She has people in Lafayette, Eunice, Mamou, Crowley, and Abbeville. Spent plenty of time around people from down south. While they may be friendly and fun to party with, I also find them to be generally less intelligent, drunks, and dishonest. You say Shreveport is a shite hole and you are right. But so is New Orleans and most of Baton Rouge. Every small town south of 1-10 looks just as poor and run down as any poor rundown town in Red River Parish.
Don’t get me wrong, I love going down there and visiting her family, love eating at some of the restaurants, love fishing the Gulf, and obviously love being in Tiger Stadium. But there isn’t anything so special down there that makes it any better than the things I do up here. Y’all need to get over yourselves. Most dudes in South Louisiana tend to be short. Maybe it’s just an inferiority complex you all have where you have to project so much. You know….small dick syndrome.

Louisiana, like the moon and Idaho, isn't real.

We kill our deer and then we go up there and kill your deer also…. So what are you going to do about it?
Posted on 8/8/25 at 11:05 pm to Kingshakabooboo
I like having more to do than sitting in a deer stand.

I have no dog in this fight... but am excited to see the infighting. Let the games begin!

I like meat pies as much as the next guy, but joie de vivre and all its trimmings seems to disappear fast the further north of Baton Rouge I go.
Live music everywhere, great food everywhere, good people who like to have fun, don’t take life too seriously and enjoy it.
Nice places all over. Nice people in many places. I just like S Louisiana a little more than those places. Just gets in you.
Just moved out of LA (4th time). Trust me on this.

Honestly, me too. Not really that much of a hunter anymore. So what are you able to do in South La that I can’t or what are you able to do that is markedly better than our version of said thing up here.

I agree and nothing wrong at all with you having a preference to South La especially if you were born there. Honestly would expect that. But I am referring mainly to the people who constantly regurgitate the same old shite about north of I-10 not really being part of Louisiana….and honestly meaning it not just as a passing joke.

South Louisiana just sucks in a different way than North Louisiana does. It's not like it's any better or worse.

Holy hell you got your jimmies rustled huh.
Pretty sure people say this because the culture Louisiana is known for mainly exist below I-10.
It’s not about one area being better than the other, it’s about culture. Deep South Louisiana is different from any other place in the south. North Louisiana is similar to many other places in the south.

I grew up in Shreveport but live in red river parish. Never thought I would like living in a area without shopping options. But it's quiet and very low crime. If you hear a gun going off, it's hunting season. If you hear sirens, it's a wreck or fire. And the people are very friendly.
And I can get my driver's license renewed in under ten minutes.

It’s different. Not saying it’s better. But different. Nola doesn’t count.

I’m of the belief that all of Louisiana sucks. But we always need someone to shite on to make us feel better and yall are the logical choice

I can grow lemons, bananas, and guavas in south LA. Not in north LA.
