Just a question. Do they work on guns? My brother lives in Brandon. I’ve got a Belgium Sweet 16 that has quit ejecting shells and I’d like to get it fixed since I use it for my primary squirrel hunting gun. I don’t trust the sporting goods place here in the South Arkansas town I live in. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Did you check the friction rings on the mag tube? They can get gummed up and keep it from rejecting

Yeah I was going to double check the recoil springs and everything when I get home. I may need a new recoil spring. I don’t know that it’s ever been changed. Got it from my grandad when he passed and it probably hadn’t had more than a box or 2 of shells put through it. I’ve shot the hell out of it since though. Best small game gun I own.

You are closer to SPort, bet there’s a competent smith around there or bossier.

The (edit: action spring), in the buttstock might need attn. if it’s not trying to eject.

Push the barrel towards the receiver and see if it will move rearward, unloaded of course.

Might need disassembly and a good cleaning. They slow down and will stop working when they get gummy but it takes a while. Best shotgun ever made imo. JMB

Check out You Tube Art's Gun Shop - lots of vids on the A5 Browning. Recoil spring is available for $20-25 onlinne if you look around. Midwest Gun Works. Arts also has Spring Kits.

Billy used to pick up guns from several area shops and work on them. Not sure if that still happens.

Not sure. He’s very well respected in south Mississippi. Top notch gunsmith.

Honestly, A-5’s are pretty easy to work on. Clean it, lightly lube it, check your friction rings.

Vans has a gunsmith that does do work on just about any gun. The guy they use generally only picks up on Wednesday’s and will bring it back on a Wednesday. It’s not in house and can take a little bit to get it back since he’s doing his drops and pick ups a week at a time.

But Steve's is open every day except Christmas!
I'd call the gunsmith in Haynesville, LA. He's done some rifle work for me and is working on an XP-100 as well. I think he'd tell you if he didn't feel competent to do the work. Plus, it's only 20 miles or so from you. He's a nice guy to deal with.
