Does anyone think Ankalaev vs Pereira rematch will be good?

The first fight was dog shite, Pereira was scared to throw a punch. Why do they think the rematch will be better?

Unless Pereira looks radically different, Ankalaev will dominate him and I'm afraid Pereira won't have many fights left, who many people forget is 38 years old.

Apparently Pereira fought with Norovirus and a broken hand.

I think Ank’s wrestling threat messed with him, and his striking is good on top of that.

IMO, we’ll see a better performance from Alex.

Ank takes him out first round because Alex will be more aggressive. Knows his only shot is to try and KO him early or else it’s a repeat of last time.

This is a top 3 matchup for me for the rest of the year with DDP vs Khamzat and Islam vs JDM being the other two.

Matchup wise, I favor big Ank. Quicker hands, better boxing, with good wrestling. Sure he wasn’t able to take Pereira down the first fight, but it’s there to neutralize Poatan’s aggressiveness. And even if Ank can’t take him down, he can still easily clinch and control him against the fence. Pereira still has that lethal left but he needs to figure out how to go around Ank’s defense.

Ank is currently around -190 so if you think Pereira can do it, there’s value.

Pereira doesn’t seem like the type to lay down twice in a row.

I agree here. I hope we can add some lightweight fights to that group. Topuria vs Arman would be solid and a fight I would love to see is Holloway vs Paddy.

I really don’t think Topuria will fight rest of the year. 322 is Islam vs JDM and I heard maybe Volk vs Movsar. Seems like 323 is set for December and the only fights I can see for that card is Van vs Pantoja and maybe Harrison vs Nunes.

LW is such a mess now. No one wants to fight with Arman who is the clear #1 contender. And Dana is set in punishing him for pulling out vs Islam. But doesn’t anyone want to se Ilia vs Justin? I don’t. Paddy is not ready, Holloway hurt.

Yeah Arman vs Ilia is the only fight you can make. If Arman fricks up again just put him in the doghouse forever.

Which makes this fight a must see. Pereira fights are always a blink away from being a highlight reel

I get that its likely but I don't really like the matchup. Paddy vs Charles makes the most sense but Holloway already fought Gaethje and there's no one else to put him against if Arman/ Topuria are off limits for now. I'd rather Paddy/ Holloway who both have momentum and Gaethje/ Charles which pushes one of them completely out of contention while the other gets back in the mix. Charles only lasted a minute longer than Holloway against Topuria and Holloway looks different at lightweight. I'm just kinda tired of the exciting but mediocre Porier, Gaethje, Charles, Chandler circle of fighting. I'd rather eliminate their contention all together and give Holloway/ Paddy winner the path.

Holloway already fighting Topuria and then beating both Gaethje and Porier only to fight Charles next just kind of sucks IMO.

I havent seen the last fight with Pereira but i really havent been all that impressed with Ank in all his fights before that. That draw with an old Jan soured me on him. Im taking Pereira here. If he loses again its safe to say his time has passed

With Islam moving up Arman is the only person that makes sense to fight Topuria. If you leave Arman out then you HAVE to schedule Holloway/ Topuria and thats not going to happen. I really don't think LW is that big of a mess. If you look at how they are scheduling cards it seems like they are grouping the same weight classes together to get more solidified rankings going into next year. I wouldn't be surprised if we see (2) lightweight fights on a card to start the new year with 4 of those top 6 fighters. The next few cards and fight nights have just about all of the top end guys in each weight class fighting each other. Heavyweight, light heavyweight, and middleweight have all the top guys accounted for. Which tells me LW is next.

Ank waited too long to press forward against Jan but should’ve won that fight. The thing with Ank is he has NO weaknesses. He can swing and grapple. He’s an absolute animal and the only person I could see taking him out is someone unorthodox like Jiri. Ank should be undefeated but literally let up in the last few seconds and paid for it. Good learning lesson.

He made an elite striker like Pereira landed around 11 head strikes over 25 minutes. That’s one head strike for every 1/2 round. If that’s not impressive, i dont know what is. People complained that Ank hugging on Pereira during the fight. But no one ever brought up Pereira hugging for dear life at the end of the 2nd rd when he got stunned.

No way they put Holloway vs Topuria and no way they do Holloway vs Gaethje 2 and leave Paddy off. Might actually get the Holloway vs Paddy fight, unless they want Paddy vs Topuria. They have to schedule Arman at some point.

Should see:
Topuria/ Arman
Holloway/ Paddy
Olivera/ Fiziev
Hooker/ Gaethje
