Anthony, 21, was the No. 1 overall prospect in the game when he made his MLB debut on June 9, and he has been a key contributor to Boston's rise into postseason contention, hitting .283/.400/.428 with two home runs and 19 RBIs in 46 games.
The Red Sox have gone an AL-best 32-16 since Anthony's debut to rocket into the top AL Wild Card spot. They entered Wednesday on a seven-game win streak, and Anthony holds an active eight-game hit streak

Numbers dont seem like anything special. Looks like Boston is just overpaying players again!

First year pro gets $130 million? Nice work if you can get it.

Wander Franco and Corbin Carroll did similar deals
If Roman can stay healthy and avoid underage poontang, this works
Bregman also signed early for 100 M for 4 years with Astros. It's better than paying 40 M for an aged Bregman that has missed time due to injury with more to certainly follow

Bregman is still really good when healthy
Roman, THE EMPEROR is the next big thing in MLB

MLB agents hate when players do this early in their career

Probably couldn’t do this without moving off of shite head Devers contract.
Maybe their FO knew what they had and what they were doing all along hmmm

No doubt
40 M good when you have 240 M to spend per year? No way he's producing that when he's healthy, much less the assortment of coming injuries.
He has had hamstring, quadricep, and arm issues most of his career. Played through them some, but not the kind of player that ages well
He can be and is a professional hitter when not working on his contract. I'm a fan of his, but there exists some philosophical differences in his approach to the game. Certainly more my problem than his.

he’s on basically a series of 1 year deals so i don’t see it as a bad contract

Not ultimately, because you dumped Devers
I think Cora is one of those managers that can win you 5 games in a season
He had more to do with the Astros success than Hinch and he proved it in '18

He was also busted for cheating in Boston in 2018, so I would say it has more to do with the cheating.

If he blows it with what he currently has, he deserves it.
