judges side with Trump on ending union bargaining for federal workers

A federal appeals court on Friday sided with the Trump administration, lifting a temporary block on a March executive order that prevented government workers from union bargaining.
The three judge panel for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the plaintiffs argument alleging Trump issued the order on the basis of retaliation.
Instead, the panel comprised of one appointee of former President Obama and two Trump appointees said the president “would have taken the same action even in the absence of the protected conduct.”
A lower court ruling issued by U.S. District Judge James Donato previously prevented 21 agencies from implementing the leader’s March executive order, siding with plaintiffs comprised of six labor unions, including the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the nation’s largest federal employee union.
A separate judge in Waco, Texas denied the Trump administration’s “power to rescind or repudiate” collective bargaining agreements across numerous agencies in late July.
However, on Friday, the appeals court upheld the president’s order citing the agencies excluded from union bargaining have “primary functions implicating national security” and cannot be subject to the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute, a law that established bargaining rights for most federal workers in 1978.
“President Trump’s latest executive order is a disgraceful and retaliatory attack on the rights of hundreds of thousands of patriotic American civil servants—nearly one-third of whom are veterans—simply because they are members of a union that stands up to his harmful policies,” National President Everett Kelley said in a March statement in response to Trump’s order. This is a touchdown, 2 point conversion and recovery of the kickoff for another touchdown.

Unions should not be allowed to negotiate to directly frick the American taxpayer. That FSLMRS law needs to be recended by Congress.

Public sector unions were created by an executive order

How someone thought unionizing the federal govt workforce is a good idea is beyond me.

Guaranteed donations and votes to the Democratic Party.

No one should have the power to keep any worker from unionizing.

USPS has a union and they are exempt from this EO since they are legally considered separate from federal civil service.

1. Tell us why unions are even still necessary
2. Then tell us why Federal employees would need one

Fixed it for you.

I’m not in one, wouldn’t want to be in one. But as an hourly employee I’m glad they exist. I work well below my education level, and that’s not a brag. I’ve taken too many management courses and worked in the field long enough to know how managers manipulate academia-based processes to frick the little guy and benefit themselves.

More stamp price changes are expected
The latest increase, which took effect on July 13, marked a 7.4 percent bump on first-class mail stamps alone. At 78 cents a piece, it may not feel like very long until they reach $1.
The July price hike is the seventh since 2021 — there were two rate increases in 2023 and 2024. Since 2014, stamps have gone up nearly 30 cents each
Last September, the USPS proposed raising the price of stamps five times over the next three years, starting this July. Additional changes are on schedule to happen every January and July through the end of 2027, the USPS confirmed to Nexstar.
The last 10 price changes for a single stamp have, on average, been an increase of 5.2%. Should future hikes increase at that average rate, a stamp could set you back 96 cents by the summer of 2027. LINK

And no one should have the legal authority to force any employer to accept a union. If you're dealing with skilled and dedicated employees then the employer will bite the bullet and deal with the union. But the option of firing them all should always be on the table.
There are lots of unions with completely delusional views of their employee's value. The USPS and their $11/hr skillset comes immediately to mind.

The issue with the post office is they have a massive amount of useless management who dont even handle mail and most of these guys make over 100k a year.

The threat of a union can get you most of the benefits of an actual union so the right to unionize is crucially important to blue collar workers.

The MBA crowd seems mostly centered on justifying their own existence. I've seen so many fundamental changes made solely for the sake of padding someone's resume.

Another crushing move against the Democratic money machine.
They really did fund via recirculation of tax dollars.
