Doing a baby moon over Labor Day. Staying at the blind tiger downtown. Already have reservations for dinner at twelve and regards.

We will have some pretty free days so wondering what are must do's in the 1-2 hour vicinity.

Wife is going to be BIG by then so Acadia/Bar Harbour is probably a stretch at 3 hours unfortunately.

Any recc's on the water or nearby would be much appreciated. Don't have anything planned out for lunch/daytime activities.

Sounds like you have some extra cash. No problem head up the road to Freeport and the LL Bean flagship store.

For an afternoon head up to Brunswick. Three or 4 really good small breweries on the main drag, Bowdoin College, trails by the river(s). Neat little town.

We haven't taken a vacation in 2 years so yea, trying to do it big before our lives shut down.

Will check out Brunswick. Thanks for the tip.

Trust me, Acadia is longer than that. It’s not a day trip from Portland. Camden is doable I think. Or maybe explore some of the islands in Casco Bay.

We have friends who are active with this botanical garden in Boothbay Harbor. Can’t say whether it’s worth the drive from Portland, but I hear it’s quite nice. There are accessibility carts for those having trouble walking, which your wife might appreciate. Boothbay itself is a working harbor town, as well as a pleasure craft sweetspot.

My recommendations are pretty geared towards drinking, so let me know if dad wants those Plenty of ideas, but immediate couple are Room for Improvement for cocktails, King's Head for craft beer, Bissell or Belleflower for a brewery, Ruski's or The End for a bar.

Special shout out Tandem and Holy Donut during the breakfast hours.

Haven’t been up there in 3ish years, but I would recommend a meal at Eventide and a Portland Sea Dogs game. Thoroughly enjoyed both last time we were there.

Go up to Freeport (LL Bean) and along the coast to Boothbay Harbor and back. Just south of Portland are lighthouses and beaches.

Some kick arse breweries there also, Maine Beer Co. and Mast Landing are both really, really good.

If you swing through Portland and are into beer, Bissell Brothers Brewing Company would be a must.

Just got back from Maine and stayed 2 nights in Boothbay. The Botanical Gardens were really nice. Had a good meal at the Tugboat Restaurant right on the harbor. Excellent haddock. You should definitely drive over and check it out. Just about an hour twenty minutes from Portland. You could do a lighthouse sailboat cruise that lasts 2 hours.
