I’m not sure if this is a millennial thing or what. But there seem to be an increased trend Ive noticed where younger people, especially the women, come up with all sorts of ways to organize these “fun social days” where people leave work and go do some activity like a bunch of children on a field trip. Can’t people just put in their time, get their work done and go home?

Young, single extroverts have been a part of the workforce for a long time.

I doubt anyone is forcing them to do this.

My buddy is the "social chair" for his work, he organizes these types of outings for his colleagues. They do all sorts of things, parties for Mardi Gras, crawfish boils, paintball, etc...

Not my cup of tea, but I don't think it's a bad thing if it's optional.

When I was young and early in the workforce in a new city I loved hanging out after work. It was mostly happy hours but it was fun.

Someone is paying for that

The option should be more time off to spend how you would like, increase salary, or you can go to the field trip party to the laser tag place

Not in 2025. If you have a cell phone your work goes with you

My guess is they kinda don’t want you included anyways.

That’s different.
People on their own time socializing isn’t what I’m talking about

There is a company I used to work for that is always doing these type of outings with their employees during normal work hours.

I feel like work-related social functions have decreased over the years, not increased.

I have that issue at my job too. I'm 45 and work with a bunch of 20 and 30-somethings. I just want to do my shite and hang with the fam after work. If you want to bond, we need to do it between 7 a.m. and 5. p.m. This old man has other shite to do and a 9 p.m. bedtime.

Francine from accounting is trying to organize these so she can get a ride on Little Bearcat. It would help to take your incel nose out of your incel phone and try actually speaking to another human in person.

You ought to try a little vitamin P. It will change your whole outlook.

Yeah, his company is paying for it, would you rather they just keep more profits for their executives, or would you rather they re-invest some of their profits into attempting to make their workplace a more enjoyable place to work?

ETA: Having employees spend more time together doing team building activities is a positive for the company as a whole
