Anyone else feel like we could have a 2019 like season?

There are a ton of similarities between 2018/19 seasons and 2024/2025
2018 LSU lost to Florida, Texas A&M, and Alabama by 29.
Most people don't remember but we only had 3 offensive players named to all SEC teams going in to 2019. Lloyd Cushingberry (1st team) Damien Lewis (2nd), Justin Jefferson (3rd).
In 2024 we also lost to Florida, Texas A&M, and Alabama by 29, and of course we blew the opener to USC.
The difference was that in 2024 we had a first year defensive coordinator whereas Aranda was in year 3 in 2018.
Similarly we have 3 offensive players named to preseason all sec teams going into this year. Nuss, Aaron Anderson, and Caden Durham (All 2nd team)
I really think the offense has more weapons at disposal than 2019. Anderson x2, Thomas, Hilton, Green, Brown, Durham, Sharp. Thats 8 guys you can get the ball to.
How many of you can name who finished 6th in receptions in 2019?
The only difference is I think you had more known commodities on defense going into 2019. Other than that, lots of similarities between the two situations

Nothing will reach that level. But we sure can have a great season that’s unique to itself.

No one saw THAT season coming.

I think you make some astute comparisons. This fan base is hungry for another National Championship.
It all starts with the Clemson game. It would be unfathomable to lose the opener for the 6th year in a row.
If we do, Kelly's seat will be getting warmer...

I think our defense is going to surprise a lot of people. This is as deep as we have been in a long time. That will take a lot of pressure off the offense and Nuss and he won't have to push as much thus eliminate the big mistakes. I also expect Nuss to be a more willing runner this year especially having an experienced backup.

We should never expect a team to ever be that dynamic. That was a historic season.
However, even with some questions still to be answered, there are some parallels between 2019 and this year that can foretell we should be good.

No. We can’t run the ball and that is an issue

Not at all.
We will never see a 2019 like season again, by anyone.

To be fair, 2019 did have issues with the running game, too.
Hopefully our offense can figure out a more varied run scheme than what we've done since BK took over.

We couldn’t last year. Wait & see how we look against Clemson before saying this

Nah, Nuss doesn't have Burrow's scramble threat that helped kept drives alive so often and isn't going to be as efficient or consistent, and that's okay. I believe Nuss is still going to have a fantastic year and could easily be a Heisman finalist or frontrunner.
Besides that, we're super deep at WR but none of those guys are as elite as Chase and Jefferson, and our o-line won't be as good. I don't think the defense has the ceiling that 2019 did either, but they'll still be an improvement over last year.
All that to say, this could be a really good team and has the potential to make a deep run into the playoffs, possibly ending the year with a natty which would obviously be incredible. Expecting another 2019 is unrealistic though. Sometimes people forget just how good that team was specifically against an all-time schedule.

Not a chance.. we actually were able to run the ball in 2019. And Nuss is great but not anywhere close to Joe.

No, I don't think we will ever have a season like 2019 again.

Some of yall act like 2019 was a great team.
2019 was so remarkable there’s a very good chance cfb doesn’t see a team that dominate ever again.
We don’t need to be comparing anything to them.

Absolutely I’m so confident I got drunk last night on pappy van winkle and bet the kids college fund.

No.
The biggest reason is that while many of the players from 2018 to 2019 were the same (most particularly the QB), the overall offensive approach, play designs, play-calling was VASTLY different between the two seasons. Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, etc could have worked extremely hard in the offseason, and they would have been better in 2019 because of it. But they would not have been THAT much better in 2019 without the complete overhaul of the offensive approach. That was the biggest reason for the 2019 season.
The offensive approach from 2024 to 2025 is not going to be vastly different. One, because it's the same OC, and two, because it doesn't have to be. LSU's offense wasn't bad, or even average last season. Hopefully the offensive it better and more creative in 2025 with everyone, including the OC, having more experience. But it's not going to be the night and day change we saw from 2018 to 2019. That alone is while LSU won't have a "2019 season". However, they don't have to have a 2019 season to be a national championship.
2019 will always be the season where all the right pieces came together at just the right time
