I bet all 10 fans are really excited. Will probably have a parade down Plank Road if they win.

It is so hard to tell if this is a troll thread or a serious thread.

I shite on the team in a post earlier this summer but ended up back at a game a couple weeks ago because a friend and his kid wanted to go, but here is my serious take.

The team was pretty good. The level of baseball was decent. The dimensions of the park are stupid. Like 330 down the lines and 413 to center with a 14 or so foot fence.

The stadium experience is awful for a grumpy old man. They hired the obnoxious PA guy who does LSU women's basketball and other LSU stuff. He thinks the people paid to come hear him instead of see the game. The screaming and over-the-top "hype over nothing" really doesnt hit well with 300 people in the park.

And there is constant noise. Between every single pitch, there is some sort of canned music, sound effects, etc. An occasional organ chant between pitches of an AB is fine.BUT NOT BETWEEN EVERY PITCH. Let the fricking game breathe a little. Baseball used to be a sport where you could go hang out and enjoy a little peace from time to time. Impossible at one of these games.

And every single goddammed foul ball is sponsored. Dipshit PA guy after a foul:

"And there is another (sponsor name redacted)....FOUL BALL!!!", with the ever iconic glass breaking sound effect. That got old very quick, like top of the 1st quick.

So Go Rougarou or whatever. If I ever get roped into going back, I am bringing headphones.

Sucks that the PA guy took over. It’s one of the purest forms of baseball out there these days. I went to a game in Victoria, TX. It was a peaceful, refreshing, and fun evening in an old wooden ballpark.

I love when ignorant people say this, as if ballpark fences in the 30's & 40's weren't plastered with ads and the PA guy wasn't playing some jingle before an ad read between AB's.

I am with you. It isn't the concept that I am opposed to. It is the damned carnival that they turn it into. There is some worthless promotion between every single half inning. There is never a peaceful moment. People who run these teams feel like they have to cater to the ADD society that we have become. They fear that if there is a half second pause, everyone will get bored and leave.

Well guess what--all the marketing and promotion isn't exactly doing wonders. I have never heard of anyone say they were at a game with any more than a couple hundred people there. Maybe there would be even fewer without all the bells and whistles. Who knows.

I guess Rantz is lucky he knows people with deep pockets who like to waste money like Gordon and Todd Graves. I can't see how it can possibly ne a money-making venture otherwise.

Love Old Wooden Ballparks. Fenway was an Awesome Experience for that. To a lesser extent, Grayson Stadium, in Savannah is a great Old Stadium with a lot of History.

Where did I mention ads on the fence? The jingle between innings is probably a bit different in 2025 than it was in the 1940’s.

The entire thing is charity for local college players to continue their development.

This isn’t supposed to be some big money making operation

He is the team owner. It is a business. He either has to make money or not take an absolute bath for it to exist.
