Here looking for some OB wisdom and insight on best options for a suppressed 22lr semi-auto rifle setup. Thinking of finally acquiring a new S&W 15-22 sport, specifically the PC model (#10205). Are there certain 22lr-specific suppressors better suited for SA vs bolt actions? Open to recommendations on what you think would be the best suppressor to run.

While the PC barrel length is already 18” and adding to that is a concern, I’m more interested in being as quiet as possible. Be nice if I could also run it on a pistol but that may be asking too much from a single 22 can.
Also plan to switch between using different sighting options depending on what I’m doing and want to make sure there is no interference with irons, red dots, or a scope. Doubt that is a legit issue though.

In an old thread about a Ruger Precision 22lr the following were listed, mostly by Timmayy. What else should I add to the list to look at?
Q el Camino
Rugged oculus
Otter creek labs titanium 22
Dead air mask
Cat SR (custom shop order)
CAT Ben - new suggestion

edit: adding to the list as we go.

The CAT Ben hit stores this week, that’s another to look into. Shorter but a little fatter than the Short Round. Still made of titanium so it should be quite light.

Can’t get the link to work, but there’s a video of the Ben and Short Round side by side. They are very close, but the Short Round still edges it out.

I have a DA Mask and can say with sub-sonics it is quieter than my Benjamin 392 pellet gun, by a lot. Basically all you hear is the bullet striking it's target

Love my oculus. Buddy has the dead air and it seems to be just as quiet.

I also have a Mask, absolutely love it. In all the videos I’ve seen the Short Round only slightly edges it out. I should be getting my Ben next week, looking forward to comparing it with my Mask.

I have these two and they are both great.

I wouldn't say one is quieter than the other.

The el camino is longer
The Oculus is modular meaning you can shoot it in a short set up. It's only about 3" in the short set up but it's fairly loud that way.
the el camino is much lighter than the oculus.

I would highly recommend either of those.

Also have a Surefire Ryder 22a. The a means that it has aluminum baffles. The can itself is very light and very quiet but cleaning it is horrible and because of that, I would not recommend it.

Don't have experience with the Cat 22 silencers but I have a white bread from them and it's awesome.

Could you speak on the different configurations? I find that interesting as well as what they mean as 'upgradable in the future'.

Any have the Rugged Mustang 22 or seen a real comparison to the Oculus?

I can’t. I have only used it in the longer configuration.

I have 2 Masks. I vote for those.

If you are worried about decibels, there’s not going to be significant difference between the major brands. Buy one that will take some abuse and be easy to clean.

Dead Air Mask.

I was actually in this exact same scenario. Ordered the otter creek titanium this week. I’ll mostly use it on my 15-22 rifle but also Walther p22.
Waiting game now

Gentleman, really appreciate all the feedback so far. Did a lot of research on my own as well and I'm hardly in better position than I started.

Seems hard to go wrong with any of the options for 22 though. Right now...slight advantage towards the Oculus with OCL ti22 and DA Mask right behind it.

Only took 36 hours for approval for my Ben. Side by side pic with my Mask:
0.8” shorter
0.21” wider
2.7oz lighter (nearly half the weight, feels substantial when mounted especially)

I can also second or third or whatever for the dead air mask. With subsonic, all you hear is the hammer.

I had the Mask on my P322, and the Ben on my M&P22 Compact. 10 rounds in each, 1 in each hand, fired alternating 2 round groups. They are very close, I would have to give the edge to the Mask for a slightly duller tone as far as sound. The Ben obviously feels better on the pistol, it’s like it’s not even there. Curious to see how they compare on my 10/22 and 457 next.
ETA: I should add that my Mask is pretty dirty and due for a bath. No clue if that helps or harms it.
