I saw the name of an article on SI with this title, and i figured something like Yankees/Red Sox or Ohio State/Michigan would pop up. However, SI claims that Roger Federer/Rafa Nadal is the greatest rivalry in all of sports. I found it interesting, and I can see where they are coming from, but I read one of the comments and they made a good point. People who root for Federer dont necessarily hate someone for liking Nadal, and same with the other way around.

So, other than the obvious, what do you guys think are some of the best rivalries that nobody talks about?

You are correct, sir. Nothing matches the intensity or has the title implications that this rivalry has.

Federer wins Aussie Open on a fast hard court.

Giants vs Eagles imo

I agree with the others.

Seriously, how big are USC and Stanford in baseball? With all of the titles, you'd think they'd be big rivals.

Currently, I think Duke-UNC in college basketball and Yankees-Red Sox in baseball are the two best rivalries. Michigan-Ohio State was good up until this year, and I think the Wolverines have a lot of rebuilding left until that rivalry is really back. Alabama-Auburn could be an interesting one as well, but whenever one team is excellent, the other one seems to suck, at least recently

Lakers-Celtics can be fun, especially if they meet in the finals again this year. Unfortunately, the NBA doesn't have too many classic rivalries anymore. Back in the mid-90s, the Bulls-Knicks and Knicks-Pacers were a lot of fun to watch for a neutral observer. I was just in elementary school at the time, but I could still see how much those sides hated each other.

If we are going to include soccer rivalries, Fenerbahce-Galatasaray is better than Boca-River.

AC Milan-Inter and Rangers-Celtic are probably up there as well.

Yeah.

and I think pretty much any NFC East game is a grudge match, I think Dallas/Philly more so than any though.(I noticed NYG/Philly and Dallas/Washington up top)

I like the Cavs/Pistons rivalry.

nice to see the Lakers/Celtics warming theirs back up last year too.

It's always the best rivalry with the least at stake. I mean, that is their Superbowl every year pretty much and I always enjoy watching it.

Cardinals vs Cubs. Busch Stadium is usally packed with Cubs fans when they play the Cards. Wrigley Field is packed with Cards fans when they travel up to Chitown.

ETA: I also like Texas vs OU in the Cotton Bowl. Love the neutral site and Dallas is almost the same distance from both schools eventho it's in Texas.
