I think rivalries where they meet often during a year has to diminish them. I'm not one to buy into the yankees/sox rivalry; they play nearly 20 times a year including playoffs. How can you be as passionate 20 times a year as you are 2-3 times a year? That is why I think CFB rivalries are the best since they only play once a year (potentially twice in some rivalries but not many).

Army V. Navy IMO is still #1

True, but when there is usually something at stake i.e. towards end of reg season and October those rivalries are very legit. And in the NFL, a lot of times you're playing for a playoff spot against your major rival even early in the season.

Oh I agree but the first 10 games they play against each other shouldn't be built up like they are some huge rivalry affair; It's an april game in baseball

Yep, hence why I can't even watch baseball until well after the all star break.

Suprised no one has mentioned this... I know the teams don't play every year, but..

NFL - Cowboys - Steelers?

Also, Packers - Bears?

MLB - Cubs - White Sox? Cubs - Cardinals?

NCAAF- Gators - Dawgs? Auburn - Bama?

Used to be a great rivalry, but it's lost some luster recently.

That's a whole different type of rivalry, but great nonetheless.

What do you base this on? Just cause you're "sick of hearing about it"?

Best in NCAAF;

Auburn - Bama
Michigan - Ohio State
Oklahoma - Texas
USC - Notre Dame
Florida - Georgia
Nebraska - Oklahoma(not recently.. but when both teams are at the top of their game, it's a good one)
Pitt - WVU

However, SI claims that Roger Federer/Rafa Nadal is the greatest rivalry in all of sports.
Current rivalry? Sure.
- I hope Lakers/Celtics heats up, although they're headed in opposite directions due to age, etc.
- Overlooked rivalry : Tulane/LSU baseball

there isn't a rivalry in the states that holds a candle to River Plate vs Boca Juniors

Celtic v Rangers aka Catholics v. Protestants.

Another good one. It'd be nice if ND could go into the game ranked in the top 10-15.

makes for a great SB rivalry, but Dallas has so many games now a days that people consider rivalries(just within the division) it's hard to consider this one consistently during the regular season.

Seriously, how big are USC and Stanford in baseball? With all of the titles, you'd think they'd be big rivals.

it's a rivalry, but not anything special recently because USC isn't any good.

Stanford-USC football is a bigger rivalry than people realize, but still not big in the grand scheme of college football

amateur rivalries >>>>>>>>>>> pro rivalries. sox/yanks is absolute shite compared to even lame arse college rivalries like udub/wsu, vt/uva, or wisky/minny.
