I am trying to locate the complete TEAM and INDIVIDUAL stats from the 1973 LSU Football season. A game by game summary from that year would also be helpful. Anybody know where I can find this information?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I’m sure if you can write a pretty decent email or stop by the LSU athletic center they would probably give you a lead or two on how to get the complete season of stats. Someone has them there.
I’m sure if you let them know what you’re doing it would probably be easy.

I was on board for that season. I was in high school and it was very traumatic for me because we lost to Tulane 14-0 on December 1st 1973. I am still hearing about that game. To the people who think we don’t have a natural rival, will say that it will always be Tulane regardless of how seldom we play them.

When Tiger Fans ask what is the worst defeat, for me it's not 21-0 to Alabama in The National Championship.
It was 14-0 against Tulane in '73(when you're younger I think it affects you more).

Steve Foley. First time Tulane had beaten the Tigers since 1948. It was a huge shock and adding the heart-breaking loss to Alabama the previous week, Christmas that year never got off the ground.

quote:that was a crushing loss that year. Both teams were undefeated and it was a top ten matchup. The Tigers were cruising and looking to stake their claim for an elusive national title. And Alabama beat them in TS like it was a routine game for them. That devastating loss led to the humiliating punctuating loss to Tulane the next week.

LSU ended it with a loss to Penn State in the Orange Bowl. That 3-game losing streak set the stage for the end of the Charlie Mac era. LSU disastrously switched to the Veer in ‘’74, went 5-5-1, scrapped the Veer and went 4-7 in ‘75 (5-6 officially because Mississippi State was forced to forfeit some wins because of NCAA violations) and that turned up the heat on McClendon.
LSU lost at least 3 games every year the rest of the ‘70s and never seriously challenged for a major bowl game or the SEC title.

All the 73 football season means to me is.a low point in LSU Football.
That year I recall sitting in the Super Dome and watching Tulane beat us 14-0.
That is the Only time I Ever left a TIGER game early !

'73 was Tulane Stadium

Tulane in 1982 may have been just as bad, since they were a 24-point underdog with a 4-6 record going against an 8-1-1 LSU team that beat Florida, Florida St and Alabama, two of them on the road.

I was at the game at Auburn that year, 20-6 Real Tigers.

I was young but remember that game, it was played on Thanksgiving Night. LSU actually went toe to toe with Alabama and moved the ball up and down the field, but If I remember, and I wish the game stats are available, LSU turned the ball over like 5 times around the 20 yard line (Bama's).
Bama was, like always under Bryant, fundamentally top notch and maybe had 1 TO, but that was enough, Bama wins 21-7.
