A less painful experience can be had at City Centre. There's a little "green" there, a number of restaurants with outdoor seating, shopping, froyo, etc. There are bayou kayak tours. Buffalo bayou in general is a pretty good way to kill time. The Children's Museum is good too.

Depending on alot of things i guess...24hr window is narrow so Galveston isnt an option as thats what we normally do when we take grandkids to game.

Depends on what you are into but the is Moody Gardens and Rainforest Cafe that most kids would enjoy.

You could go to the Marriott Marquis and pay for access to the pool area. It’s got a lazy river that kids seem to enjoy. Very popular place to go. It’s walking distance to Minute Maid too

History Museum of Natural Science is a blast & kids museum is a great time too.
We go to a few Astros games a year. We stay at the hotel downtown across the street from the stadium. The downtown area around the hotel & stadium is a great place to walk around too.
