Sorry if this has already been mentioned.
According the ‘The Spun’, Texas 8&4 spent $49.2 million on men’s sports and $2.2 on women’s sports.
*sorry for not posting the link, I’m not very tech savvy.lol
Makes it that much more entertaining to hear Aggie fans talking about other schools “buying players”

Not a great return on investment

All that money didn’t even net them a meat judging natty, which historically they are great at. Lol

The takeaway is if you don’t spend that kind of money you will not be consistently competitive.
In a poor state like LA that is going to be a problem.

Well, now there is a $20.5 million cap on roster spending by schools, and NIL can only be for legitimate business purposes. Meaning no pay for play as there is some auditing company now, like a Deloitte. No law firm giving $8 million to have 3 kids show up for a 15 minute meet and greet. NIL has to be sent through a company like Deloitte, and be approved for a legitimate business attempting to use the kid for profit like State Farm does with Mahomes. But no pay for play. Then the $20.5 mil revenue share cap per football team. It puts things on a more even level if the NIL auditing thing works.

Lucky for LSU they have one of the more profitable athletic departments year after year alongside some wealthy boosters.
LSU is in better position than the majority of the NCAA. Maybe not the best but definitely healthy enough to be competitive.

Texas Tech owns that “sport”

No play for pay?
Yes there is pay for play, all you have to do is register your contract with a clearinghouse. Which is nothing more than a database. The NCAA has zero authority over a private contract.
The teams that spend the most on players will continue to win.

Athletes can earn from NIL deals with outside entities, but what he is saying is a school can't spend more than 20.5 million a year on all NIL. The Student Athlete/Entrepeneur has to get outside endorsement deals.
Brice Underwood is getting $2.625 million a year from Michigan.
He has also inked ....
Hollister
Barstool Sports
Bryce Underwood Shop
Topps Bowman U
Feldman Chevrolet: Deal included a 2025 Tahoe RST for Underwood, plus vehicles for his parents.

It’s the Aggie way

Which is exactly how the richer universities will do it. Just front the money on outside entities, profit through NIL. It will be fronted through richer boosters. The sharing cap is not going to slow anything down and if anything, NCAA is going to get sued again. They should just dissolve NCAA at this point and go straight with collective bargaining agreements. NCAA doesn't want to go away because it's too much money that they shouldn't have their hand in anyway.
Unless LSU comes up with something innovative they will always be behind in NIL because they don't have the market for NIL endorsements. They would need someone to brand them that has national presence selling world class athletes. They can't just sell the idea you make a commercial for the people of Louisiana. Not a big enough market to make money on so that puts LSU at an automatic disadvantage there.
They'll have money just not like the richest universities. Endorsement potential will always have an advantage over LSU unless they can find a way around this limitation here. Underwood is a good example. LSU was paying him good but then they swooped in with a bigger payday through a booster and endorsements. You can't compete with that but not many could anyway.
