I thought the P320s issues were sear engagement related.

This would be a totally separate issue if the M18 manual safety is failing.

How did the M18 even win selection given the issues out there with P320s? Why on earth would you even chance that unless your palms were being greased in a big way?

Sig got a swath of contracts in recent years that are kind of head scratchers. I don't see how the M18/M17 are any real improvement over the M9 when you consider the number of M9's already in service. I fail to see how it was worth such a sweeping change / expense unless you just needed to grease Sig a little more.

I get why they would want to depart from the M9, I just don't understand where doing it was worth it.

Seems like the M9 is fine for most of the people using it. SOCOM has been using the G19/17 platform for years, so that was an obvious choice as well. Hell, the M&P 2.0 platform would have made more sense than the P320.

The P365 has a different design than that 320 that's supposedly safe. I carry one daily, but I'm having second thoughts about anything Sig related. Considering swapping to a CZ.

Mil/DOD contracts have 0 to do with the product and everything to do with politics, kickbacks, and the like

I’ve got a Hellcat that I’ve been carrying for a while but picked up the p365 fuse recently and was planning on using that as my EDC and my Hellcat as backup. Right now my backup is a M&P shield but it doesn’t have much capacity so it will probably be retired.

What's the difference between the M17/18 fire control vs the P365?

Why would the M17/18 have this problem and the 365 does not?

The M9 got one of the worst bad raps for a weapon in US military history.

They were/are great guns. I’m not a huge fan of SA/DA but it doesn’t deserve the hate it’s gotten.

I have no dog in the fight, and I know Sig has had safety issues. But this incident was 5 days ago, they are fairly certain it was a gun issue and not user issue?

How often has this happened with Sig compared to the M9? I have no idea?

Could be user error, but most of the stuff we’ve been told is user error turns out to be an manufacturer error

I don’t think it’s his was even an issue with the M9. IIRC, there’s a steel block in the frame to prevent this kind of thing from happening

The rumor (take it with a healthy dose of salt) going around is the guy detached his Safariland holster with the pistol inside, set it on a table, and the gun went off and shot him in the chest. Could be user error but at this point the reports are numerous enough to make me skeptical of the platform.
