Basically doing a stop over next March on our way home from the middle east

Have essentially a full 48 hours between landing and take off

Going to be very Westminster focused

Land at Heathrow at 11am. Current plan is to get back to the hotel which is on Picadilly next to Hyde Park and spend the rest of the late afternoon/evening walking around Westminster just seeing the plethora of sites. The next day is when we plan to go to Westminster Abbey, do the Churchill War rooms, and then we are still on the fence on either Westminster Palace/Parliament or the London Tower

Next morning before our flights home, 3pm from Heathrow, thinking about just walking through Kensington Gardens but we will see on that one

Anyone have any other ideas regarding the Westminster area? Good pub/Indian place? Whats the general consensus when it comes to London Tower versus Westminster Palace/Parliament

I suggest the Tower. Take a water ride to get there. Parliament is cool if it is in session.

I'm headed to London on Friday. The wife has business, so I'll be chugging around solo for 3 days. Currently have The British Museum one day, Plan to take the tube up the Thames one day, then take a boat down the river to see the city from that point of view, then the third day, just walk around.

Food wise, doing an Indian place called Brigadiers and a Mediterranean place called Rovi. Other than that, playing it by ear.

I can post when I get back and let you know what was worth it.

take the Uber boat...FYI you can buy tickets on your Uber app for a cheaper price than at the dock.

It sounds like you have a good plan for the short time you are there. Both the Tower and Parliament are worth seeing. You can’t go wrong either way. One thing you could do is go to the Tower early on your last morning before you have to go to the airport and go to Parliament the day before since you will be right there when you go to Westminster Abbey and the Churchill War Rooms.

London Tower

Hit the Tower, walk across Tower bridge and tour HMS Belfast.

The tower is really good. I visited each time I went to London. I assume you are interested in History based on the other places you already have confirmed. It’s a must stop

If you are doing the Tower of London, try to get there 1st thing in the morning and go right to the Crown Jewels if you want to see them, that line gets absurdly long quick. Given the choice of only doing one of Westminster Palace/Tower of London, I would pick the tower, but you could probably do Westminster the day you get there.

Good pub/Indian place?

The Brick Lane area of Whitechapel. Increasingly Bangladeshi cuisine; but, the best collection of Indian restaurants in a small place in all of the city.

The Monsoon is an old established fav. Tayyab’s seems to be the new Punjabi hotness.
