New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees is getting another shot as a TV analyst after spending one season at NBC following his NFL retirement in 2021.

Brees will serve as a game analyst for Netflix on Christmas Day, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported Thursday.

According to the report, Brees will be on the domestic broadcast for either the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Commanders contest or the game featuring the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings.

Brees is filling a gap created by the major networks' reluctance to loan out some of their top talent as analysts for Netflix, Marchand reports.

He knows what he is talking about but he doesn’t have the most charismatic broadcasting persona in the world.

I feel like he would be best as part of a 3 man team as he has great insights. Basically the Frank Gifford of the Howard Cosell, Dandy Don Meredith and Frank Gifford trio.

Hopefully he doesn’t get as annoying as Romo has become with his I know the play is everytime they lineup. It was pretty good at first but now he talks way too much

You can blame woke culture on that. Last time he spoke semi off the cuff and not hyper PC, he got obliterated by media, racists and his teammates. He's been in a shell ever since then. 2nd chance is well deserved. I hope he says whatever the hell he wants.

If he’s himself at all times people would have no choice but to respect it. He doesn’t know which side he’s on sometimes and panders.

People love Donny because he’s direct if he’s racist, if he feels anything he’ll tell you how he feels to your face.

Drew was put in tough spot. Black teammates calling him out that he sincerely loved and respected and it was his retirement season. He bent the knee to his teammates and it's kind of understandable. I've never disliked him for that. He was put in a crazy spot.

Horrible no win situation that he didn't deserve to he put in.

Drew was a hall of fame NFL QB, but he’s a very boring and terrible TV commentator.

Unfortunately, Tom Brady is better than him at this too in addition to being better than Drew at football.

No, I just think of the truth and reasons of why Drew might be more gunshy now. If you review his pre 2020 interviews/media to his post 2020 interviews/media, there is a definite change. He hasn't always been bland and lacking conviction. He used to have it in spades.

However, fhe last time he opened his mouth to simply honor his grandfather and America a bit, his teammates and fanbase that he had real love for, turned his back on him.

It's part of the reason I've largely disassociated from the team and fanbase. Lot of absolute pussies both on the team and in the fanbase.

Malcolm Jenkins gets less hate and ridicule from this fanbase than Drew Brees. Make that make sense.

True, but Drew crawfished on his convictions and wore that Jacob Blake tape to get back in MTs graces. Pussy move.

As said he’s a horrible analyst who deserved his firing last time this won’t be any better.

Drew needs to be pursuing what Brady is doing with the Raiders, not Pickleball or Walkons or Broadcasting. Buy a stake in the Saints, be the "football guy" and be the face of the franchise.

While I hate him backing down to them… this is a big reason why I hate the Saints organization now. They completely hung him out to dry.

Once again, an over -reaction and hot take about “woke” culture. Brees did not retreat into a shell. He simply clarified his earlier remarks and made it clear that he respected his teammates point of view even if he disagreed. I object to so-called “woke culture and its unfair attacks on people, but it’s not behind every ill in the world. The reaction from the other side is too often misplaced or overblown.

Did Brees do any games before, or was he just a studio guy?

He did both.

They should use him as a sideline reporter. Let him really break down what he’s seating and hearing on the field.

I have no doubt he could break down defenses as well as anyone. That was his strength as a QB.

Drew needs to be down on the field mixing with the players. That's where he shines.
