Is DI’s still around?
It is, but that’s going to be about an hour and a half drive South, one way, from Alexandria.
And either of the two quickest routes you take, you’re gonna get a speeding ticket. Either in Turkey Creek or Woodworth.

Tunk's Cypress Inn in Boyce, La. It's about 20 minutes west of Alexandria

Here's what we have. FYI, all are IMHO
Quebedeaux's -- average at best and I have found it hit and miss.
Bucket's -- your typical fried fish and shrimp place..nothing special.
Crazy Cajun -- not bad, but nothing special.
Cajun Catfish House -- See Bucket's
Tunk's Cypress Inn -- was damn good at one time, still not bad but been 3 or 4 years since I've been.
Rocky's Tails & Shells in Bunkie -- see Bucket's and Cajun CF House.
Smakin Mack's -- pretty decent fish and shrimp, but not really a set down and eat dinner place.
Rosie Jo's -- probably as good as any above.
Maybe drive 45 minutes or so south on I-49 to Washington and check out the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant. One of my favorites when not wanting just the typical fried, fried, fried, cornmeal, cornmeal....

Not cajun seasoned but Darrell’s has a good shrimp plate and amazing old fashioned ice cream.

I enjoy a Cajun muffellata from Bernard's Cajun Sea Fry in Cottonport from time to time. Basically a seafood poboy with catfish, shrimp, crawfish and oysters on a muffellata bun. It's big enough to split or get a couple of meals out of it.

when I am in the area I always try and hit the location up in Tioga - they have fantastic burgers and great fried chicken.
That place just reminds me of a mom & pop, old school, small town, burger and ice cream joint, that you just don't find much anymore

Quebedeaux's
Below-average boudin and accoutrement. I was shocked, disappointed and dismayed.

It's Alexandria/Pineville. There ain't a whole lot of true cajun restaurants. This is what we got

As far as a fried seafood place Pops has really made tremendous improvements. Best fried catfish around imo.
Not gumbo time but a really good gumbo. On pace good home cooked gumbos. That is prob the only “Cajun” dish he has
