has there ever been a movie better than Runaway in 1984 at predicting the future?

Crop picking robots
kids laying in bed playing on TABLETS
RING doorbells
Police sending handheld flying drones equipped with cameras into a house to check for explosives they monitored from their police car
self driving taxis
Bluetooth earpiece
and i can't find images, but also:
- retinal scan instead of passwords
- construction robots building a skyscraper
- using photoshop on a tablet to edit images
keep in mind, this movie came out the same year as the first MACINTOSH so all this shite was in the writer's head and was way overshadowed by jurassic park a decade later.
well done, michael crichton
black mirror wishes it was as insightful as you were 41 years ago.

Seems like most of our technological advances are born from the minds of storytellers.
Go back and watch The Jetsons.

and to add to what i was saying; he wrote and directed this movie and it was in the can before the macintosh was introduced to the world during the superbowl in 1984 so he didn't even have a graphical computer UX to study.

Seems much better than when Demi and Michael Douglas were walking around in the files in Disclosure.
Have to wear a vr get up just to go into a file cabinet.

given how long ago Runaway came out i think its still the clear winner in this category. crichton did such a fantastic job of making that tech seem believable.
the thread on the OT about the robot picking broccoli reminded me of the scene at the beginning of the movie where he has to go in and shut off a malfunctioning boll weavel picker.
i rewatched it a few months back for the first time in 30 years and my jaw dropped when i saw that police drone show up in a suitcase.

I had forgotten he had even written (and directed) that. Good grief, a man was in his own league when it came to writing about science and technology.
And he married 5x. Same as James Cameron! (So far)

The Star Trek communicator is why cell phones look like they do.
