What would it take Brian Kelly to be on the hotseat?

He’s been on the hot seat since he killed a kid @ Notre dame. The only worse hire LSU has made this century was Joe Alleva. Entitled pricks that shite the bed in big games don’t fit our culture here. Unfortunately, we are stuck with him for at least 4 more years. Can’t wait to lose to Clemson.

Actual hot seat… would have to be like 6-6. BK is a good coach and an excellent program manager. It will be disappointing if he turns out to be a dud but I don’t think there is a realistic situation where he ever gets fired.
I don’t think people appreciate what he has done enough. O left LSU on the verge of being an absolute dumpster fire. A truly bad hire could have set LSU back a decade. BK , while far from perfect, has done a good job getting the program back to top 10 conversation.
He has also won 29 games in 3 years, 3 bowl wins, and a heisman. That’s nothing to scoff at.

I’d say he’s already on a warm seat. Another opening season loss (especially if there are multiple mistakes), would put him on a hot seat. IMO, he have to recover and make the playoffs.

Kelly is undoubtedly a solid coach. But all of these other accomplishments mean absolutely jack shite if he's not consistently making the playoffs (and winning season openers).

Yeah if BK misses the playoffs this year, his seat will be on fire going into next season. If we have a catastrophic meltdown like you’re suggesting there with 6-6 he should be fired

I hate to say it, but even if this team bombed and went 6-6 this year, while on a scorching hot seat, Kelly still wouldn't be fired after the season.

we won't go 6-6 , we will lose a close one to a very good clenson team because we have so many new peices and then we will go on a tear and the game against Bama will be for the west and we will make the playoff

It’s a good question. The contract is so massive that I really can’t see much of a warming seat for this guy. He could probably reel off a 7 & 5 and still not be in any real danger.

I was just talking far-fetched hypothetical and by no means think LSU goes 6-6. I really don't know what to expect with this team. If I had to venture a guess, loss at Clemson, upset loss to TBD, upset win at Bama, all the rest wins, and squeeze into playoffs.

by the time we play Bama we will be favored. looking at this team on paper, position group by position group,we've got depth everywhere. if the line can run block and be halfway decent pass blocking,we will be tough.
I like our potential red zone packages with van Buren or Johnson with the size at tight end or slot with treydez . I want him inside in the redzone and maybe running a zone read with an rpo attached with van buren

The "west" that you refer to is a product of a bygone era of the SEC, there are no longer division in conference. 2 best conference records (Iinclusive of a tie-breaking process) make the SEC championship game .

yeah ,i meant we would be one of the 2 teams. I just said west out of habit

the reason I brought up our redzone package potential is that people usually don't quite realize how important being a good redzone offense is.
every single game for a whole season can come down to scoring tds in the redzone. if I was a head coach or an oc under Kelly I would try to convince him to work on 3rd down and 5 or more and redzone ,for most of the offenses practice in camp and I'd do it as close to live as possible during the season every day at practice.
if we finish in the top 10 in scoring tds in the redzone , top 10 in converting 3rd and medium to long and a top 50 defense, we will make the playoff for sure.

They didn’t fit our culture at one time but they fit it perfectly now,

A losing season. BK ain’t going anywhere. He’s doing a good job. The talent is just now starting to get where it needs to be to start competing for championships. Years 4-10 are going to better than years 1-3. This should be stupid clear.

The coach of the greatest season ever got fired 2 seasons later.
BK needs the playoffs. His reputation is he can not win big games.

Well if he gets the team to the end of September with a 2-3 record I don’t think you will have a satisfied fan base.
