Is it time to say goodbye to Taysom?

I think it’s time to save some money and embrace the future. I’m not the only one.

The New Orleans Saints still have some roster decisions to make before the 2025 National Football League season gets here.
That’s obviously the case as New Orleans will eventually have to trim the roster down to 53 people. One guy who has been talked about this offseason a lot and still is up in the air is gadget tight end Taysom Hill.
The Athletic’s Larry Holder shared a column talking about one contract to watch for on each team and unsurprisingly, Hill was mentioned. Also, Holder suggested he could’ve played his final game in town.
"New Orleans Saints," Holder said. "TE Taysom Hill. The Saints’ jack-of-all-trades offensive weapon possesses the highest salary cap figure on the roster at nearly $18 million. He also turns 35 in August and will attempt to return after an ACL tear in Week 13 last season.
New coach Kellen Moore seems optimistic Hill can return this season, but who knows if Hill will ever be the same given his age and the wear and tear on his body.
The Saints could save $10 million if they cut Hill, but for once they actually don’t need the space since they’re around $23 million under the cap. Still, it’s fair to wonder if we’ve seen the last of Hill with the Saints."

He’s gotta geaux !!!
Saints need money and he’s NOT LONGTERM Future of the Team.
Don’t cry for him… Trade him to Payton (6th or 7th rd pick) or Payton will sign him after his release.

Cut him now. As they said he’s starting on the PUP and this is a business, quit making emotional decisions and Loomis pays people too much for what they did before.
Honor him later in the Saints HOF but he’s not needed.

He will likely have a Ram type of inactive season. Retire as a Saint in 2026.
Guy needs to go in the Saints HOF immediately

Yes. Too injury prone and he's not getting younger. Trade him.

I think they are trying to see what’s going to happen with his recovery in order to see if it would be worth it to try and re-work his deal with a pay cut (if he would agree).
I think that Taysom’s downhill running style works well for KM’s system, but it will depend on his health.

Need money? The quote in OP clearly states we don't need the savings from cutting Taysom for this season. Even if we did want to sign an expensive FA, that contract would mostly go against future caps, not 2025. So the extra $10 million of space in the 2025 cap will just roll over to next year (where it will be anyway if we pay him this season but not next).
Basically: keep Taysom one more year, or save Gayle $10 million for no reason. Maybe she needs a yacht or something. Hell, I'd keep him just on the off chance Sean comes calling and we can trade him to Denver for a bag of chips.

Trade him.
Good luck with that. Another Loomis overpay nobody taking on that contract.

I don't think there's much of an advantage to letting him go this season unless somebody wants to trade for him.

Certainly more clever than anything you’ve ever posted over the past 20 years on this website
