Like seriously? I already have to take days off but you also have it on a Saturday in October and I have to pay for a hotel room in DR.

Trying to find an excuse not to go.

Are they holding a gun to your head to make you go?

They don’t care if you go or not.

Right. They don't want most people to go, except for maybe 10-15 peeps.

Not really.

Stay home and teach your brother and invaluable life lesson.

Stop being a coward and just tell them what you're telling us.

You don't want to go, and they don't mean that much to you. You have better things to do than see them on one the most important days of their life.

Yes. That was the sole reason they picked a destination wedding. It was only to inconvenience family.

They don't even really love each other. It was this massive ruse just to inconvenience you. And all of their family and friends..

It's even better when they put it on a holiday "to make taking time off easier" not realing they just doubled rooms and flights.

My wife and I got married at Disney before it turned pedo and gay.

Only folks we expected to go were our parents and my grandmother. A few other relatives came as well but several others either couldn't or didn't want to like you are saying.,

We 100% understood and never thought about it again. Unless it's your sibling or kid getting married, they will understand. You've already thought about it much more than they will.

Went to a wedding in Hawaii last year for a close relative. There were 200 guests, all from the mainland. I estimated that the total $’s for everyone attending and the wedding was over $500,000. Probably more.

That’s when I decided to stop attending destination weddings. I find it incredibly inconsiderate to invite people to a destination wedding.

I was in this boat two years ago. They lived in SD and had a wedding in Hawaii. Had plans to go but got hit with two of life’s big obstacles two months before their wedding. I didn’t make it there. His wife passed away a month ago. I do wish I could have made it but that’s life. It didn’t stop him from being my best man in La for my wedding.

Wife and I paid for our own wedding in Jamaica because nobody was picking up the tab. Did wedding stuff first 2 days then 7 days for honeymoon.

Ended up having 26 people there.
